Although we didn't experience any noise from the building work opposite, it is still going on and is not expected to be finished until some time in 2007. The room was extremely warm in the evening but the almost unbearable traffic noise outside meant that we couldn't open the windows. Air conditioning would certainly help. Upon arrival this hotel appears miles away from the centre of town along the road, but through the streets it's probably only a 5 or 10 minute walk. The Hotel La Presidence is on the seafront beneath the Castle Museum. The rooms are large and comfortable and ours overlooked the sea. A large leisure complex is under construction opposite the hotel and when finished, most likely the sea views will be lost. This hotel is located on the beach, but the interior is very shopworn and needs renovation. The noise from the street was heard all night. We requested a non-smoking room, but, the room smelled of smoke. I would not stay here again. more

Stayed the Hotel La Presidence September 2002. This is a comfortable hotel, good sized rooms, and excellent bathroom, another plus is an elevator. Ideally situated, right on the ocean front, very effective soundproofed windows, lots of free parking on the street. more
