From the first minutes of our arrival and throughout our stay, Claire, Josef and Jeremy made us tremendously welcome at the Beau Regard. All guests are treated as friends: returning friends or new friends, simply depending upon whether you have been here before.

The food is excellent. OK, there is no choice but special dietary needs are catered for, if you give good notice. Standard of cooking and service would be hard to match. The special meal nights (a fondue night on Monday, and a Steak Night on Thursday) were really good, and gave ideal opportunity to enjoy mixing with other guests.

Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a good sized bathroom, and was well maintained.

Thank you Claire, Josef and Jeremy. We are already planning our January 2021 return.

This is our second ski holiday at The Beau Regard and I have to say I cannot wait to return. Everything you need for a comfortable holiday is provided by Claire and her team. Food is plentiful and interesting, the rooms and all areas of the hotel are clean and comfortable and the staff are very attentive. Claire runs a very friendly efficient service and has a lot of knowledge about the town and the ski area which she is only too happy to share. Just ask. The Hotel itself is well placed and is only a five or ten minute stroll from the town with all the bars and restaurants you will need. The hotel does have its own bar and a very comfortable area to relax in. We look forward to seeing Claire, Geremy, Monsieur le Chef and the rest of the staff again. We arrived to a warm welcome from Claire, Jeremy and staff. The hotel is warm and inviting, with lovely clean rooms / bathroom with powerful shower over.
The bar had Kronenborg and a Belgium beer on draught, both of which were very good.
All the food was excellent both at breakfast and dinner. The evening meals were cooked and presented to an outstanding standard.
We enjoyed chatting in the lounge areas, and even games of table tennis.
The fondue night was a great success.
It was easy to catch the ski bus to different areas and staff were happy to advise on good runs.
Many thanks to everyone - we hope to be back soon : )

Interesting hotel that could do with an upgrade. Rooms were a bit of a lottery, some were huge, most were quite small, Food was great and plenty of it especially breakfast, and staff, though quite strict, were really nice. The pool in the winter was tiny and in the foyer as was the Sauna!! No privacy in this area. Good ski room/drying room area, only 500m from ski bus and 10min walk into morzine. Lift to all floors

I try and be as honest as possible when giving reviews, and under other circumstances I would probably have given the hotel a four stars out of five at the beginning of the stay, but because of an unfortunate attitude of the staff which was not immediately apparent at the beginning, I have had to downgrade the hotel to a 3/5.

First of all the location. The hotel is not central, but is only a 10 minute walk from the centre of Morzine and all the bars and restaurants. There has been advice about hiring boots and skis from Intersport just over the bridge next to the Super Morzine lift to Avoriaz. This is good advice if you are going to spend most of your time skiing on the Avoriaz slopes, but if you tend to stick to mainly Morzine and Les Gets, to avoid walking 10 minutes to the main Pleney lift with your clumpy boots on, better to rent from one of the shops nearer to Pleney, of which there are two or three.

The property is of typical Savoyard rustic style; not fancy but cosy. The room was of an adequate size, with a small walk in shower room. I understand from other guests that some rooms had a bath with a shower attachment. I can't complain as our water was always hot and the pressure was good. The towels were a little small but they were OK. Our mattress was not the comfiest, a little soft which meant that it dipped slightly in the middle, which, after a couple of days became a problem for me; more on that later. The rooms were tidied and cleaned every day, and the cleaning ladies were polite and thorough. Our room was at the back of the hotel so there was no view to speak of;not a problem for most guests as the whole idea of a skiing holiday is not to spend time in the room but to be out there on the slopes.

The dining and bar area were pleasant enough. Again, in rustic cosy style. Each party was assigned a fixed table every night. I could understand this for large parties, but it seemed a bit unfair that some people had permanent seats next to the window and others didn't. Not a big deal but it would have been nice to have had the choice. Breakfast, as has been mentioned, was perfectly adequate with a good enough choice for everyone. I particularly liked the fresh fruit salad as I don't tend to eat lots in the morning anyway. However, if you do have a larger appetite there were enough mini croissants, eggs, cold meats, yoghurts etc to suit everyone. Breakfast was served from 7.40am every day and I think finished at 9am. The evening meal was at 7.40pm and the owners liked everyone to be seated by 8pm. We usually eat later than that, but again, it was no big deal for only a week. Although the food was perfectly fine if you are a meat fan, I was disappointed with the lack of choice. It was a set four course menu every night, with the third course being a substantial helping of local cheeses if desired. I would describe the meals as "home cooking". The soups were particularly nice, and if you like meat the duck was very tasty. However, it would have been nice to have at least one choice, and I tend not to eat much meat. There was no real veggie option, although I was offered an omelette one night as an alternative to veal. I think in today's market at least one choice, and one veggie alternative should be the norm. Perhaps the size of the hotel made this not a viable option, but I have been to many establishments of a smaller size who already cater for every eventuality. The wine choice was pretty good and reasonably priced. The hotel staff , all perfectly friendly and polite, preferred you to vacate tables by nine o' clock, and the bar was closed after 11pm. This was not a problem as most people get tired after a long day of skiing, and there are plenty of decent bars across the bridge if you want to continue imbibing until later. My husband liked Robinson's bar, which was a 15/20 min walk away, and we both liked "Le Tremplin" which is a hive of activity around 5pm to 8pm after a hard days skiing. The staff at Colibri were also very nice and La Remise is a good restaurant for both lunch and dinner, with friendly staff and good choice of food. Wine by the glass only 2.50 Euros. Pretty amazing for France. Back to the hotel, If returning after 11pm you have to enter via the fire escape back entrance;- more on that later. The staff waiting on tables were always friendly and polite. All of them spoke good English if you don't speak French. Claire, the "patronne" was very helpful in terms of advice if you wanted any information about the area and was always around to say "Bonjour" and to ask about your day. This was a nice touch.

The reason I have not given the hotel a four out of five is the access arrangements. Unfortunately, my holiday enjoyment was cut short due to a bad accident, which left me with an overnight visit to Thonon hospital and the rest of my holiday on crutches, unable to ski. I was in considerable pain even though on strong painkillers, and I will need at least six weeks for the break to heal. Of course this is not the fault of the hotelier. However, my husband and I were disappointed that the normal front entrance with lift access and no stairs could not be made available for the time of our departure at 6.30 in the morning. Indeed, ALL guests, even those who had to depart at 5.15am, were expected to negotiate the fire escape stairs, in the dark, at the back of the hotel and carry their heavy luggage down. This is not easy to do, and, especially in the ice and snow, a potential health hazard. It is against the law not to provide suitable access to hotels/restaurants etc in the UK and heavy fines are imposed for those who do not comply. Apparently in the rest of the EU this is, to our astonishment, not the case. I was told by the owner that it was not "their responsibility to open the main door" for ease of access. Not even for those people with pelvic fractures. There may well be house rules, but I have never yet stayed in a hotel anywhere in the UK where the hotelier did not provide easy access or have the door manned, even out of "normal hours", and I have stayed at a fair few hotels in my time. We were told it was the "tour operators's responsibility" to help me get out of the hotel(???) or that some of the other guests leaving at the same time should help us. I am fairly vociferous in expressing my views, but being under the influence of heavy medication, and not wishing to cause a scene I did not make a fuss, but I found this unwillingness to not make an exception to the rule to open the door an hour or so earlier than usual to let someody in pain leave the premises without undue hassle quite intransigent. Some of the other guests expressed surprise too. It should be noted that we picked up guests from various other hostelries on the way to the airport both in Morzine and Les Gets, and ALL of them had their front doors open, even the smallest establishment. Back to the bed, although I am sure most guests had a good sleep, because of my injury the softness of the bed was a bit of a problem. Some people like soft beds, for me it exacerbated the pain.

I would recommend this hotel to people who like eating a lot of meat and cheese (particularly cheese, there was lots of it!), want a homely atmosphere at a reasonable price and don't mind sticking to strict routines at mealtimes. I would not recommend it for anyone likely to have a skiing accident on holiday or for those who might find it difficult getting down a flight of stairs in the dark with 20Kg of luggage and a set of skis.

We're still beyond baffled by the good reviews this hotel has received.
Myself & my friend booked a last minute 1 week half board ski trip to Morzine through Crystal Ski. We knew it was a 2* hotel but the pics looked good and the reviews were good. We're not too fussy and if we have good food, a clean warm room & hot water after a days skiing then we're happy ladies.....how wrong we were about this place from the reviews!!

We arrived at the Beau Regard Hotel on Sat 26th March at 6.15pm. You need to go upstairs to the reception where we were met by the owner Madam Clair. She was like a whirlwind telling us in her very gravelly voice, that this is her last week open so we must leave our keys on the hooks at reception during the day and take them at night if we go out as the hotel is unmanned. Given WiFi password and up to our room we went (328).

Our room was a twin on the 3rd flr. It was a small twin with a really good size bathroom and the beds were very comfy. However if you need WiFi, then forget it, as the signal is non-existent unless you go to reception.
There is very little storage space in the bedroom, but there is a small hanging area in the bathroom and we used our cases for any other storage.

After unpacking, showering & dressing there was a loud knock on our door. We were met by Madam Clair who asked if we were coming down to dinner as it was now 8.10pm and should have been there by 8pm. I hadn't realised the time, apologised for our tardyness and said we would be right down.

The nightmare begins from here;
Open plan dining room with assigned table for the week. We asked if there was a menu to be told it is on the wall on way into diningroom.
Menu (in French only) consisted of:
Starter - Some type of cheese on toast with lettuce & tomato.
Main course - Roast pork medallion with polenta, green beans & artichoke
Dessert - Profiteroles
Cheese board.

It was utterly vile and I felt ill by the time we left the dining room after the main course. My friend ate nothing further after the starter. I however, was very ill with vomiting etc for the rest of the night and most of Sunday which meant I could barely ski and was off slope by 2pm.

On our return to the hotel we were met by Madam Clair at the lift in reception.
She said 'we will see you at dinner?' we said no, as we are going to go out. She then in a raised voice said 'you have to tell us in the morning if you will not have dinner as we have prepared it and it costs us money if you decide not to eat'.
I replied that we only decided to go out when we came off the slope, but in all honesty, we just couldn't face another meal here and I had no appetite from being ill in any case.

Madam Clair then went on to say 'come, come, follow me...' and we were lead into her office by reception where she proceeded to go through a book and say 'we have fondue dinner tomorrow night and all guests eat at one long table.....you will be here for dinner tomorrow night!???'
We both replied yes, as her tone was too damn scary to say no.
While in that office we could see into a room just between the dining room & kitchen and there were rows of plates with that evenings food all laid out and no coverings on them! Eek......have to wonder how long they were sitting out in the open!

We left her office feeling like a pair of school girls being reprimanded by a headmistress with other guests in reception giggling, as Madam Clair does not speak quietly! Never in our lives have we experienced such behaviour or attitude from a hotel owner.

On our return to the hotel that night (12.15am) we had to walk up the side of the hotel as the main door is closed. This walk is lethal. You have to walk up really steep tarmac & jagged rock edge steps that are unlit. When you reach the top, you go through a gate onto a side street and up steps again to the left of the gate which leads to a door into the hotel. This door is UNLOCKED all night with no security, so anyone can enter the hotel at their leisure if they wished!

Breakfast is buffet style with scrambled/boiled eggs, sausages, bread, cereal, cold meats etc and a basket on each table with 1 croissant per person. The breakfast is fine and the coffee is really lovely. Madam Clair goes around to each table to say good morning to every guest.....

By evening time we were dreading going back to this hotel again and to face the 'fondue' dinner. This meal consisted of cubes of beef or cheese with small bowls of sauces (left out so long they had a skin on them...yuck!), gerkins, salad & bread.
We ate a tiny amount and went back to our room, where we decided we couldn't stay here any longer, so we went online and booked ourselves into a hotel called 'Les Airelles' (amazing place...see review) for the following morning.

We literally crept out of this hotel the next morning as Les Airelles Hotel told us the night before we could check in with them at 9am. The main reason for leaving Beau Regard Hotel was due to Madam Clair more than the hotel itself. There were other small encounters with her during our stay here that just added to our decision to leave. The feeling of relief when we left cannot be described. Avoid this place at all costs, unless you like dealing with a mad woman!!!!!

mesdames, merçi de votre long mail, de mon 1m62 pour 46kgs, je ne pense effrayer personne!!!mais oui il y a des règles a respecter, sur les horaires des repas et leur organisation, par exemple, comme nous le faisons depuis 20 ans , mais de partout, tout a chacun , dans son travail,dans ses activités, dans des horaires de trains ou d'avion, doit faire de meme. Comme dit dans beaucoup d'avis, great spot and lovely host, voir cheerful and friendly,et bonne nouriture fraiche et variée, qui permet a nombreux de nos clients, 1/ de n' etre pas malade!!! et 2/ de revenir, pour certains depuis 10 ans, appréciant la rénovation de l'hotel (chambres , corridors, salle a manger), le wifi dans tout l'hotel, avec quelques aléas parfois, mais du au réseau général, 3/ notre présence de 7h30 à 23h( tout client est informé, du règlement intérieur de l'hotel soit oralement, soit par les affiches à l'entrée de l'établissement, ou dans l'ascenceur, et en français et anglais), et donc en autre, la porte d'entrée tardive est sans problèmes pour la majeur partie des clients, sauf si... le retour par la passerelle est diffiçile parfois!! 4/ notre disponibilité pour essayer de répondre aux besoins de chacun, avec ses limites bien sur, mais nous ne pouvons etre parfaits, chacun est libre d'apprécier ou pas notre fonctionement le meme pour toutes et tous du 1er au dernier jour.il faut aussi de la part de nos hotes, savoir respecter les lieux, les horaires du staff, et les autres clients, et là......je laisse donc seuls juges, nos anciens guests et les futurs apprécier ces différents avis. nous nous abstiendrons de commenter certains propos disgracieux, voir plus, et Nous continuerons donc d'acceullir avec joie de nombreux clients,,tout en continuant de progresser dans le produit que nous proposons. pour info. nous avons reçu ce jour le rapport de qualité de l'agence par laquelle vous avez loué, et que notre résultat , tout confondu est de 82%. aussi ami(e)s du beauregard a bientot.claire et joseph

A friend and I stayed here on a ski trip. As other have said on here, Madame Claire is quite the character (we were told a list if dos and don’ts and given a quick tour before we’d even officially checked in) but she runs a tight ship and she and all her staff are friendly and excellent and she always make a point of greeting and saying goodbye to everyone each day.
The location is on the quieter side of the valley and it’s about a 15 min walk across the suspension bridge to where the bars and restaurants are located, as well the two main gondolas up. The ski bus stop is just outside the hotel too.
Our room was at the front with great views of the mountains. It was ‘cosy’, but did the job.
Food was three courses plus cheese every evening included in the price, apart from one fondue night. There’s no choice about what you get, so if you’re a fussy eater then this maybe isn’t for you, but we loved everything we had there. It was always well cooked and delicious. They even made us a ‘packed lunch’ breakfast for our early departure on the day we were coming home.
Lovely hotel. Bon travail, Madame Claire and her team.

Myself and my partner stayed in Hotel Beau Regard for a week and it did not let us down. It is very clean, warm and the food is great! They also do a fondue night - always a bonus when you love cheese. The hotel is run by Madame Clare who is very friendly and ensures everyone staying at Beau Regard has everything they need. Our waitress was great and spoke brilliant English (as our French isn't the best) and was always there to greet us at our table with a warm smile.
The hotel has a small pool - extends to outside in the summer months, a gym, pool table, ping pong, table football and a ski and snowboard boot room. Handy for when the mountain is a total white out.
The Super Morzine gondola is about a 5 minute walk over the footbridge and the Pleny gondola is about 10 to 15 minutes walk. we preferred the Super Morzine side of the mountain as there were wider, longer runs, less ski school and you can ski right over into Switzerland.
The hotel is also in a really good location next to a large sports centre and ice hockey rink too. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great stay in France 😊✌💛 Cheers!

I have to admit, I'd been ranting a fair bit over Christmas about companies giving poor service and how there's no such thing as a proper manager who takes care of anything anymore. Then we met Claire who makes a great deal of effort to get to know each and every guest and runs an amazingly organised little hotel in the Alps!

Claire and all her staff make everyone feel welcome and give that one-to-one attention. The food in the hotel is excellent and dietary requirements and preferences are accommodated for, if you give some notice.

We actually didn't get to meet our Crystal rep (we had contacted her and did seem quite responsive), but Claire was so organised she got everyone's departure times ensured everyone knew what to do, how to get out of the hotel etc. Certainly that works in her favour to know when rooms are vacant but also helps the average skier who gets a bit tired and dopey by the end of the week!

We'd had a number of nightmare experiences with Crystal over the past ten years or so we've used them. Unfortunately TUI corners the market with block-booking and you're left with little options - I'd not use them if I had more options! We've been transported from hotels at silly times in the morning, left outside in the cold with no breakfast waiting for coaches for no reason at 5 am in the morning. I liked the fact that Claire, without asking, organised breakfast bags (nothing special) and at least had some sympathy for those enduring an early start. We did feel that Claire and her staff made up for the numerous deficiencies that Crystal have in their communication and customer service.

The hotel is small, but friendly. Our room was small but we did wish to have one with a balcony, which we got. I think for the amount of use it got, my preference would have been a room with a bath - but they could have been a low head height up in the top floor. The place is quite noisy with a lot of wood - creaking stairs and you can hear through the doors. Certainly, I struggled to sleep the first couple of nights and needed some ear plugs. However, people do settle down quite early in ski resorts and it wasn't a problem. The beds are what I consider typically French - very small, my legs were hanging over the end! We had a double, which wasn't really that big for two Northern(ish) Europeans!

If you're booking because you've seen there is a pool - it's not much bigger than a couple of baths in winter due to the outside being closed. We didn't actually see anyone using it.

I'd like to have seen some more hanging places in the room for coats etc. The TV had BBC 1 and 2 - which is welcome not to have BBC World News in a hotel! Other than that, it was a pretty standard ski hotel. Spotlessly clean too! The cleaner managed to get in whilst we were at breakfast every-day and was super fast!

Location wise - it was a five minutes walk down the road to the Avoriaz linking Super Morzine lift. I'd highly recommend not using Crystals ski rental (believe they use Ski Set somewhere else in town) and use Intersport at Super Morzine who offer ski and boot storage if you rent from them - made our lives so much easier and the guys in there also know a thing or two about good customer service!

The bar was small, but sort of felt like a cross between hotel and chalet before dinner - decent selection for a small bar too. As I've mentioned the food was excellent, however sometimes meal times did drag on a little or the serving time was a little later than a number of guests would have liked. A bit earlier on dinner would have been nice.

I think some people may get a bit put off by the rules in the hotel - they're essentially common sense ones. There's not many staff, so the place get's locked up around 11pm - was later on New Years anyway. There's a rear entrance you have to use at night. Rooms aren't ready until 3.30pm and check out is 9.30am - which can be a pain I guess if you have a late transfer. There's a shower around the pool that can be used and we had to store our bags down there. Crystal didn't tell us not to take our bags upstairs on our way in, which caused some pain having to cart them down again!

In summary though, great owner, great staff, great food, great stay! There's a couple of niggles, with the rooms, beds, dinner times but due to Claire and her staff's passion I have to give an excellent review.

dear madame,we wait you on saturday,we are use to look after this problem,we cannot Cook à spécial dinner but we made everything without farina, for the breakfeast no problem it's à buffet,but bring your bread and yogourt with soja.for the matérial we have plenty of ski hire so it's your choice? when you arrive,see you on saturday.regards claire grorod
