Middlemoor Barn B&B is a wonderful place to stay, not only for the lovely, peaceful surrounding countryside, but for the welcome reception, comfort and very good breakfast. It is a converted, half timber barn dating back to the 18th century and is set in landscaped gardens and grounds extending to seven acres with riverside walks and woodland area. Originally, the place housed a horse gin, used to drive machinery and is still kept in a shed in the grounds. The water feature and stream in the garden was completed in 2006, We chose Middlemoor for a night's stopover en route to Wales. We had planned to check in between 3 and 4 pm, but alas, we encountered a problem with the car exhaust which had to be repaired at Leominster. Consequently, it was 6 pm before we managed to arrive. We were immediately welcomed and offered a cup of tea and home made biscuits. We were allocated the 'Red Room', a large and comfortable room with oak beams and a nice view. Colour TV is provided, Wi-Fi access, alarm clock/radio, hairdryer and tea/coffee facility. We drove into nearby Presteigne for an evening meal at the Italian, Wild Thyme Restaurant in the High Street - not been opened long, but great, authentic Italian dishes Breakfast was really nice at Middlemoor with a selection of fresh fruit, juice, cereals/yoghurt. A choice, cooked breakfast follows with the owners own delicious free range eggs etc. We also looked through some interesting photo albums at breakfast time, showing the work on the conversion of the barn. This really is a lovely and relaxing place to stay and would not hesitate to return…
