My husband & I stayed 3 nights. Only smaller rooms available which did not disappoint. Rooms were all spotless, very cosy. Meals lovely with the choice of main menu and an excellent priced 3 course plus coffee & mints . Drinks reasonably priced. Staff friendly and helpfull. Would certainly recommend more

Stayed for 2 nights whilst working in Truro. The staff were extremely welcoming and went out of their way to tell me that there was an unexpected cancellation when the hotel was formerly fully booked. The rooms are clean, the linen crisp and if you are looking for a place to lay your head and perhaps do a bit of work... more

Recently had cause to stop in Truro overnight , had no prior booking , booked in no problem, nice to stay in a family run hotel rather than a chain , they seem to make more effort to make me happy rooms spotlessly clean , good showers water as hot as you want it to be, spa was an added... more

When we arrived we received a lovely welcome from the staff here. The lady on reception while busy made us feel welcome. The hotel is definitely a family run place, not some chain with a feel recreated in 100 different locations. The cosy family feel comes through in the decor. All the reception rooms were very pleasant and nice (great... more

Stayed 5 nights, the Carlton is in excellent location just a short stroll into Truro. I was there with my 7month old son and the staff couldnt have been more friendly and helpful. My only criticism would be the unpleasant smell in the bathroom. This wasnt anything to do with cleanliness as my room and bathroom were cleaned daily and were spotless.... more

This is a family run hotel and how refreshing it was to stay here compared to the soulless budget chain hotels I tend to end up in on business trips. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was pretty full and busy when we arrived but we were shown to our room by a very friendly receptionist (no here’s your... more

Such a disappointment. For £75 a night, I think that this hotel really needs to improve the accomodation. Alarm bells rung as I opened the front door - its all old-people's home florals and pink carpets, and a slightly odd smell, a bit like school dinners. The lady on reception was helpful but she offered to show me 'down' to... more

Truro is a smart, compact city with a bustling centre crammed with historic buildings of beautiful Bath stone. However, there does seem to be a shortage of accommodation. Arriving for a one-night-only stay in May, we were surprised to find out (from the Tourist Information Office) that there were only a couple of guest house rooms available, a fair distance... more

I usually have a rule to check all the hotels i stay in on Trip Advisor before booking. I forgot and went and booked 2 nights via their website. I didn't even get to stay there as they had not actually reserved a room for me blaming the fact that they do not always check confirmation emails and the onus... more

we stayed at the Carlton last night. Economy double room £60 one of those windowless shower rooms. made the mistake of switching the fan on and it rattled and hummed for about an hour after wards. shower tray and one of those curtains on two sides that wrap themselves around you, water either cold or scalding. no view as high... more

The rooms the reveiwer is refering to form just 6 of our 29 rooms and are currently undergoing refurbishment with new flooring ,shower cubicles and tiling. As of today 3 have been completed with 3 remaining to be refurbished. We apologise unreservably with regards to the water situation, on the 24/11/2006 we upgraded our heating and hotwater services and unfortunately...
