Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed at The Longlands Inn on the way up to Scotland, it was my second stay. Comfortable room, lovely evening meals & breakfasts on both occasions Oh and great quality bed linen! Tewitfield is very picturesque. Will definitely stay again.

I think 5 star reviews are disingenuous, otherwise I'd have given it a 5. I stayed for a business trip and didn't have high expectations given the very reasonable price of the room, but this was a really enjoyable stay! The room was in an older part of the building, but was very comfortable with a huge bath, welcome chocolates and plenty of tea and coffee. The bar and restaurant has plenty of charm with a well designed and modern look; welcoming, busy with diners and drinkers from walkers with dogs and a hot brew in-hand to workmen in for a pint after work, to a family with a private reservation for a birthday party. Truly something for everyone. Food was really good. Nowhere is cheap these days, but for the quality of food, atmosphere, friendly staff and wide choice from a varied menu, I would happily visit again and fully intend to.

Nice place but food is average at best. Starters took an hour, over cooked and oily black pudding with a solid egg.. main course (Sunday lunch) was a mix of over cooked veg, over cooked beef with old roast potatoes and old Yorkshire pudding. All tasteless. Very disappointing

Was recommended here by a friend who held her sons 18th birthday there. Met some friends for lunch and we had booked the bar area as I had a dog with me . From the outside looked just a normal country pub but the inside completely different. Modern, light and airy , tasteful decor ...plenty of space. Had the choice of the full restaurant menu. Took us quite some time to decide what to have as it all sounded so nice. Excellent service from the staff. Not rushed at all . Food was beautifully presented and good portion sizes and very tasty .

We celebrated our golden wedding anniversary with all our family. We had the use of the little function room as we were a party of twenty five. The service we received was first class and the food was excellent. We would certainly recommend going to longlands whether it was just for a drink or booking for a meal. A huge Thankyou to all the staff for helping to make our day that bit special.

A great hotel with amazing staff. So friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fabulous, a lovely choice and cooked perfectly. The rooms were clean and comfy beds. A fridge in the room too. We did mention it would be great if they had a residents lounge as my elderly mother struggled with the noise in the bar and very high seats! Again the staff were so accommodating and said they are exploring that option. Definitely recommend highly.

My sister’s Golden Wedding Anniversary dinner was held there. The food was first class and very well served. Superb duck starter and perfectly cooked medium rare sirloin steak. Service was efficient and courteous with very good humour. A very good choice of venue in a lovely setting.
