Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not normally the type of person to write reviews as i try and live a peaceful life. Four of us went last night 19/10/23 around 6.30pm. The place was empty not a person in sight, walk in and the lady was very rude and shocked when we asked if they had a table for four people. Only to be felt stereotyped and very uncomfortable maybe because we are English who knows like I said the place was empty like A wild west saloon and the lady looked at us in disgust and said fully book even through not one person was in then the excuse short staffed. We all walked out feeling very socked as she clearly doesn't like US English people smartly dressed. Very disappointing and the place smelt like fish. Please avoid and drive a further 15 minutes down the road you will find a really good and better place. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Thanks

I’m not somebody who usually writes a review, but after visiting this pub tonight I felt like I had to warn people about the place after being discriminated on my appearance which was obvious that I was not from the area with my physical appearance and accent. As arriving to the pub me and my Pregant partner wanted a nice tea after having a long day travelling and as entering the car park there was one visible vehicle on the car park, so we wasn’t sure if it was even open .. as entering we asked a very rude / abrupt women about a table for food and she instantly responded “no available tables” even though there was on 2 visible men drinking a pint and then we was dismissed. So upsetting for my pregnant partner who was hungry and feeling tired, we then had to travel 12 miles to the next available pub we could find.

The lady that works there is one of the rudest women I’ve met. I am a local and have ate here a few times (food mediocre to be polite), and she has always been unpleasant. My family and I were passing by on a long car journey and was planning on getting a drink. I asked to visit the restroom and the response was so rude we decided to not stop for refreshments. Regardless of being heavily pregnant and with a toddler in tow it is awful treatment to potential customers. Despite that it is local to us with a beautiful garden, it is not worth the sour reception.

Took me in as a last minute stop over @10pm on route to Aberdovey for the following morning. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners who are lovely people. Beautiful property with lots of charm! Highly recommended *****

Great welcome, lovely room, good food, overall a very relaxing mid week break - stayed 3 nights in an area we had never visited before. Lovely scenic mountainous road to the coast (Barmouth) and also visited Powis Castle (National Trust).

Stopped off here on way home from Coast. Had to wait 10 minutes at the bar before being served a drink - one pint and a bottle of water was £7.50 - expensive. Asked the lady behind the bar where the toilets were and she replied “that way, where it says gents”! Rude! Asked to see the menu and we ordered a sharing “platter”. What came out were some measly chicken bites, Brie and scampi - about 4 bites each and mostly salad (old, no dressing and mainly leaves) and £13.90!! Quality of produce was terrible too. Would have been more fulfilling (and much cheaper) to have shared a few bags of crisps. Needless to say we didn’t order more, drank our expensive drinks and left quickly. Only good thing to say is a nice outdoor seating area but even then the tables are rusty and timber split and uncomfortable. No offer of water for the 2 dogs on a very hot day. Just bad customer service all round. Cannot recommend and will not return.

Beautiful place. The rooms are gorgeous. The food is second to none. All local produce and home made. The packed breakfast they made for me every morning was delicious. The Sunday roast went beyond description. Hopefully I’ll be back this year.

We normally pop in here each week for a quick drink but decided this weekend we would book in for a carvery. On arrival we had a warm friendly greeting and service with a smile, ordered our drinks and shown to our table. The carvery was hot and very tasty and the setting was lovely. Honestly I thought the establishment would be extremely warm given the temperatures but surprisingly inside was a lovely temperature. Only downside was we had no room for a pudding. This place comes highly recommended and we can’t wait to go back

Stopped in for the Sunday carvery. Despite being fully booked they found space for us. Treated us as if we were regular customers. Friendly staff, excellent food, and some very good ale. Well worth a visit.
