On arrival to this delapidated property the owner took our money once we crossed the front dooor. He was then unavailable for the rest of the day and following day. Bed linen was dirty and damp. Cobwebs all over the rooms. Mould on the valance on all 4 beds. It reminded me of Bates motel I would not recommend it... more

This place has great potential if only the owners would make adequet investment in the premises. We wandered around Newry after visiting friends to find a place to stay and were astonished at the rates quoted in the Hotels. The Canal at €300 for 1 night was just extortionate and the Mourne at €175 was just an unbeliveable joke at what... more

This Guest House is a shocker. When we arrived we were let in via an intercom and made our way to a poorly lit, old reception desk. The person who greeted us, Patrick, was joined by a woman who allocated our room. Patrick said "if there are any problems, and there frequently are, just ring me". We made our way... more

We had booked for three of us to stay in two rooms at The Belmont for four nights at the beginning of January 2008. It is as other reviewers have said, a lovely old house. The house was clean but cold. Breakfast was good even though there were no potato bread or soda farls which I would consider to be... more

We found Belmont Hall from the phone book, as we were looking for a place near relatives in Newry. It is easily within walking distance to the town center. The rooms are large and clean with very high ceilings. The father of the proprietor, Patrick, was very helpful. The breakfasts were great. I will stay here again when we visit... more

Two kingsize beds, one wardrobe, dresser, tv, drawers. very large bathroom but nowhere to put toiletires sadly (and... more

I stayed for one night only .The bed was fresh and comfortable. The owners have been kind enought to let people stay in this period property which is an important part of Irish history. It is quirky - not to everyones taste, but fantastic value for money. If you want a modern ,bland ,sterile hotel go somewhere else.....this place has character and is homely... more

Stayed in this B and B for just over a week with family while visiting the area. I found the place on the web - we were traveling around the South Down coast - and it was a great base. The bedrooms were quite big and breakfast was the real Irish deal! Price was reasonable for what we were after... more
