Liz Wier's Camping Barn is a wonderful spot - there are beautiful walks, a stunning waterfall nearby, but most important is the people you are likely to encounter staying there. If you are lucky enough to be there on a night of stories and music (which is not all that unlikely), you will have an experience you'll never forget. This... More

I stayed at the barn in autumn 2012 and was instantly spellbound - it is the place where you find the real magic of Ireland! Whether it be the warm and welcoming staff, lovely accommodation, stunning location near the Glenariff Forest Park, or the sessions with music and storytelling (both regular on Saturday night or spontaneous after dinner), I found... I stayed at the Barn during the Ghost in the Glens Storytelling Festival at the end of October. It was incredible! The accommodations were great, and the people were amazing. The Barn was the hub of the merriment and there were many great late nights full of story and drink. I would highly recommend staying there any time if year!

What can I say about Ballyeamon.I had a fantastic time there in August. After an arduous cycle from Ballycastle,I had reached nirvana in the hostel lexicon. In fact I would say it's more than an hostel or a barn, it's a place you can home for the days that you will spend there. The owner Liz was a stupendous host. I... More

Cycling up to the Barn from the coast was no piece of cake but the gorgeous scenario kept me happy all the way up. I had the chance to meet lovely host Liz and her crew - a mixture of helpers, family members and adorable neighbours - on a Saturday, which, as I found out later on, was storytelling day.... More

I had the chance to stay at the Ballyeamon Barn in February. Even though it was in wintertime, I enjoyed my time there very much. I felt at the heart of Northern Ireland, where things were happenings. A beautiful sight, a warm and lively place to stay, an inspiring forest, and amazing people to meet. I deeply recommend to anyone... More

Ballyeamon Barn is beautiful. As the other reviews have said, Liz, the owner and resident storyteller, is the real treat. She hosts sessions every Saturday night at the barn. This session draws travelers from all over the world, as well as the wonderful people from nearby Cushendall. There's a bit of magic in this area of Ireland, and you will... More

I'm not Irish. I'm a Jewish/German American. But I'd always longed to visit Ireland and get exposure to the longstanding Irish tradition of storytelling. So when I got the opportunity to stay at the Ballyeamon Camping Barn and shadow storyteller Liz Weir, I jumped at the chance. I was there for seven weeks and helped run this amazing hostel, and... Stunning is too trite a word to describe the delight that will greet you at the Ballyeamon Barn! It's more like a magical place, close to civilization yet far enough away to give you the feeling of seclusion so you can enjoy the wonder of the area. The hostel itself has every accommodation possible, but the real treat is Liz... More
