Four of us stayed at Downhill in the summer of 2005. Loved the location, right on the beach. We had a car, so it was not a problem to drive to the nearest town for a pub and grocery. Stayed 3 nights with my wife in May. It was a great location, especially friendly to day trips all over the north coast. Private rooms were nice, showers and common areas kept quite clean. Our favourite stay throughout our travels - beautiful old house with lovely rooms (recommend the double on the top floor), and stunning views over the beach. Great, well stocked kitchen, and great staff. Good selection of books, board games, records, and a lovely open fire! We will be back. more
I stayed at this hostel about 2 years ago in one of the dorm rooms for a very cheap £8 a night. The stay itself was fine, the rooms and the (communal) bathrooms were clean, but I think I was too old (30+) to be doing the dorm/backpacker thing. There were 6 or 8 bunk beds to a dorm room... more
