It's our own fault - we waited until the day of our trip to try and book a room in Bath, England and there was nothing within our price range (i.e., 60 to 70 pounds for a double room). However, Corsham is only a 20-minute drive away and Fairfield House was inexpensive (50 pounds per night, with a private bath down the hall).

The owners are a young couple with young children. They are friendly and provide an excellent full english breakfast. Our room was on the ground floor, close to the owner's quarters - and very spartan. There is no dresser or closet - just a wooden hand-made enclosure with canvas cover to hang clothes. One wall is covered with bookcases for your reading interest, and there are many tourist guide books and maps in the common sitting room down the hall which is shared with the host's children if they want to watch TV.

The associated bath is down the hall - across from the dining room - and has a tub with a shower hose, but no curtain. You have... more
