The other "terrible" reviews pretty much sums it up for this place. All I need is a comfy, warm, clean and quiet room with internet access. If you're a budget traveler with similar requirements then don't bother with this hotel. There did seem to be a wireless internet connection present but no instructions whatsoever in the room on how to... more

This is a lovely small hotel , we stayed overnight in a family room which has two rooms one with a double bed and the other with twin beds, a bathroom in each room too. Nice clean comfortable rooms, lovely fresh clean fluffy towels, good breakfast and friendly staff, only negative thing was breakfast was served until 9.30 on a... more

A fantastic hotel! Was passing through on business and needed a place to stay. Saw the hotel from the motorway and thought I would try it. Rooms were fresh, clean and did the job! Food was really good and had a couple of drinks in what I would call a traditional English bar. Would stay again and would defo recommend... more

I have been staying on a regular basis at the Twin Oaks for over 5 years. I have found it to be a warm and extremely friendly family run Motel giving excellent value for money. The food, especially the carvery is excellent with a wide and varied choice of wines and beers. Situated in an ideal location on junction 29... more

The room promised a view of Bolsover castle - suffice to say we didn't get the promised view but this was pretty much the least of our concerns. Vastly outdated rooms and hotel in general.... mildewy shower.... cobwebs in the bathroom.... a dripping bathroom tap..... a room door with a two inch gap at the bottom that could be limboed... more

Definitely the most disreputable establishment I have ever had the misfortune of visiting, even if it is marketed as a "budget" hotel. I have stayed in £1-a-night properties in remote areas of SE Asia which put this to shame. Shabby, dirty and in need of serious rennovation. Staff seemed to think nothing was wrong, which is disturbing. I won't be... more

We stayed 2 nights @ this hotel as members of a large wedding party - not one of whom had a positive guest experience. Guests in the party had to ask for clean bed linen, 2 reported smells (drains & tobacco), another was kept awake by an ill-fitting door rattling in its housing and 2 checked out after 1 night.... more

Management response from

I feel that hotels are perfectly justified in defending themselves where appropriate. not all criticism is justified and not all guests are pleasant or reasonable but we try nevertheless to remain pleasant and helpful towards everyone. The group in question were very demanding and did not even know how many were dining and at what time. They came in in...
