I recently returned from a trip to the magnificent Peak District in the heartlands of England. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Rutland Arms Hotel in Bakewell. I lodged in a Courtyard room that I found to be small, but quite adequate for a single traveler. My room was very neat and clean and the little extras were quite... more

Stayed for 2 nights in a stable block room. Room was dated, worn out & in need of refurbishment. Also not clean, a layer of dust sat clearly visible on the dressing table & a drinking glass had lipstick on the rim. These rooms are overpriced for their condition and standard of cleanliness. The main hotel building was quite grand... more

My husband and I have just returned from a weekend at the Rutland Arms Hotel in Bakewell, and what an enjoyable stay it was too. Unfortunately we booked it only a few weeks ago and weren't able to get a double room, so booked a twin room instead, but we weren't disappointed. The Hotel is situated right in the centre... more

If the clocks don't get you the ghostly dining room might... This lovely old hotel looks like it's hardly changed in a couple of hundred years... and the public rooms are full of an incredible old collection of clocks. Best off all is that on a windy wild night, as we sat to eat in the otherwise empty dining room...... more

My boyfriend and I stayed here from Christmas Eve until 27 December 2007. Everything was fine with check-in and was pretty welcoming. Our room was lovely and warm (a bit too warm sometimes!) and very cosy. It was not the biggest of rooms but clean and more than adequate, the bathroom was a really good size though and spotlessly clean.... more

My fiance and I stayed at this hotel for 1 night at the beginning of November when I was whisked away to be proposed to at Chatsworth House. We arrived on a Friday evening, checked in very easily and were given a key to our room. Our room was nice although a little dated but from the decor of the... more

Stayed at the Rutland while visiting an old school chum and I must say what a charming place indeed. Stayed in a superior room which was most comfortable and dined in the hotel restaurant twice. Excellent food and service. Very much looking forward to staying again and paying a visit to the new Antique Centre. If the antiques (clocks in... more

Stayed a few days with family members and dog.The dog had to have a room in the 'annexe' with his owner but this was not a problem. We had a room on the 2nd floor-the stairs are quite demanding for the older person so I would suggest a 1st floor room or a room in the annexe if you are not... more

We stayed at the hotel for five nights from 09 September. Having booked on the web we were a little uncertain about what we would experience. We were delighted! This is a lovely, typically English hotel: comfortable, very friendly, excellent service and cuisine and good value for money. (But might the dinner menu change for a longer stay?) Our room... more

What a wonderful hotel! Our room was very pleasant in the main building however our friends did find their room in the courtyard to be a little small. Very cosy, friendly staff and our dinner was superb. The location and the food make this hotel an absolute must for anybody travelling to the area. The hotel provided us with a... more
