Firstly, let me state some basic facts about this hotel. It is small, located at a fantastically beautiful spot a few miles from any significant town (Bakewell is nearest) and is rather old-fashioned - at least the furniture is. Some would say it is need of an update. The hotel has a restaurant as well as an adjacent pub restaurant.... more

We stayed at the Monsal Head for a weekend in June 2007. The location is ideal for visiting the Peak District and the views from rooms 1 to 4 are superb. Stay here if you want a comfortable and friendly base for exploring the White Peak. Our break was excellent value (£360 for four nights dinner, bed and breakfast Sunday-Thursday - weekends are a little dearer).
