An old favourite of ours and which we recently revisited. An excellent menu and good service - prices may seem a little on the high side but you are paying for quality food. Most enjoyable. If you are eating in the evening it is wise to book, especially at weekends and in the holiday seasons.

Passed here many times and finally paid a visit today! Wonderful lunch. Local produce used. Excellent presentation and tasted delicious! Hubby had a local beer and said it was excellent too! Staff very helpful, friendly and professional.

The Chequers is a very cosy pub with rooms rather than a hotel. Beer and food were of good quality and the bedroom was spacious with a nice en-suite. Stayed here recently, had a lovely twin room and although it was on the road the double glazing meant that you couldn't hear the traffic. Everything was very tidy, the drinks included a fruit tea which is quite unusual and the shower room whilst small had everything you would expect including a very nice power shower.
