We were visiting Ripon as part of of our holiday to Yorkshire, the weather was pretty bad, very cold and heavy showers.we had been recommended to try a pub of a well known group in the market place, on entering we were put off by the darkness so we decided to look elsewhere. On leaving this establishment there was a... More

The beer here is spot on and the welcome great. Visited on Friday just gone and really enjoyed the Landlord-beer that is. The next day we walked in and we were asked if it was the same again-a pint and a half of Landlord? Now that is attention to detail. The place is spotless and the staff extremely pleasant. This... Went here last night, Thursday 15th May, and had a meal with my wife. We hadn't booked, straight in off the street. We were at a table within half an hour, having had a drink in the bar first, I can heartily recommend the Timothy Taylor's Golden Best, they also had Saltaire Blonde and Timothy Taylor's Landlord along with a... Stayed overnight en-route from London to the Lake District - we were looking for somewhere that does a Sunday Roast and has clean, comfy rooms at a good price. This is exactly what the Royal Oak delivered. The room was clean, seemed recently refurbished and had a good sized bathroom - all for the bargain price of £70 with breakfast. Unfortunately... More

Hi Andy, Thank you for your review and kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay with us, apologies for the seeming lack of beef on your Sunday roast, the portions are usually alot bigger than that, I will investigate with the kitchen team to see if there was any reason for what you received. Hopefully we will see you... More

We popped in for a cheering pint on a miserably cold day. What a nice friendly welcome! A knowledgable chat about the real ales on tap, a sample offered to taste and a lovely and tastefully modernised bar in which to enjoy our choice of beer. We felt very tempted by the menu and have made a note to come... More
