My husband and I have just returned from a weekend in Kenmare, Co. Kerry, and we are both in agreement; it was the most relaxing, refreshing and rejuvenating break we've had in a long time. Quite by accident we found Island View Guesthouse (4 or so miles out from Kenmare town on the ring of Beara road). We had planned to stay in the town but our original b&b was overbooked so we were directed to Island View and were advised we wouldn't regret it. We Didn't.
Island View is a little piece of heaven itself run by Eileen Slater and her husband Paddy. The spectaclar view was the first thing that caught my attention and didn't relinquish it until we were well on the road back to Dublin. Our spacious room overlooked Kenmare Bay, it's islands, boats and seals. On the far side of the bay, the mcgillacuddy Reeks and Carrantouhill mountain rose ruggedly towrds the clear blue skyline.
I couldn't fault this place. We are definately coming back during the summer - My hubby...
