Stayed for a couple of nights with the incredibly friendly Timlin family at the Lisdovogue House B and B, on Lough Conn between Ballina and Pontoon. B and B is fairly isolated, a plus to some (including us) but probably a minus to others. no stores/pubs/restaurants within walking distance, but within walking distance of the Lake (not literally on the shore, but darn close), the ruins of a very old church, and some incredibly beautiful countryside. Views of the lake, fields, and mountains from the 2nd floor bedrooms. The Timlin family is from the area. They were very helpful to us for local geneological resources, and I got the impression that they are well connected with the hunting/fishing scene for those who want to pursue such pasttimes. We enjoyed their hospitality, and after a couple of walks around the area we started to get to know the neighbors, too. Next time we're in Mayo we'll stay again.
