The Gougane Barra hotel is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Nested at the edge of the quiet Gougane Barra forest in County Cork, it is surrounded by beauty, both inside and out. When we arrived it was raining and there was a haze over the lake that made it appear a bit mysterious. Once inside we... more

Stayed here with Wolfhound Adventure tour group - there were 12 of us. Neil and Katy Lucey were friendly, charming, and hospitable. Rooms are adequate and clean. The grounds are phenomenal and the food and service is exceptional. Loved it! more

We held our wedding reception for 48 guests here and was absolutely thrilled and delighted with every aspect of the hotel. Firstly the hotel staff themselves were extremely professional and unobtrusive and most helpfull in every way. Special note of thanks has to go to Maura who was an absolute angel- she even sewed my little girls dress when it... more

This was our second visit to this exceptional hotel, and we stayed three nights prior to our son's wedding in nearby Inchigeelagh. The owners are excellent hoteliers. This is reflected in the cuisine, (breakfasts are memorable), the friendliness of the well-trained staff, and in the overall attention to detail. Everything that can be done to make your stay relaxing, memorable,... more

When one revisits a favourite spot, one often wonders whether last year's bliss might be this year's blister - and, in July, as we drove through the West Cork countryside, we both prayed that the great joy we had experienced last August at the Gougane Barra Hotel, might be replicated this year. To say that it was even better would... more

We are frequent visitors to the area and were looking for new food adventures in the area. The location (at the entrance to the stunning Gougane Barra forest), service, welcome and food was wonderful! Our meal was presented with great care and prepared by a chef that understands the nuances of fine food. Highly suggest that you plan a dining... more

We have recently had our wedding at Gougane Barra and the reception in the hotel, grooms family stayed the night before and all wedding party and guests the night of the wedding. From start to finish everyone was extremely well looked after and wanted for nothing. The staff, especially Maire and Daniel and of course the owners, Neil and Katy... more

Arrived on a Friday afternoon for a one night stay in this stunning part of the world. The hotel is olde world quaint, but quaint in a very good way. If you only love modern Radisson/Clarion type accommodations then Gougane Barra hotel is not for you, if on the other hand you want to experience a really irish traditional welcome... more

Gougane Barra Hotel is run by Neil and Katy Lucey and their young family. We went there for a wedding but decided to stay for a few more days to extend the holiday. Neil and Katy were the ultimate hosts, and really patient with our late night noise! The setting on the lake is stunning, serene and kinda magical! The... more

We have recently celebrated our wedding day at Gougane Barra Hotel and had the most perfect day there. ALL of our guests commented on the friendly staff, amazing food, excellent atmosphere and overall how great the whole place was. The proprietors (Neil and Katy) go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We have only good things to... more
