We arrived by bike through a freak hailstorm with no reservation or backup plan if the Arms was full. Our bad planning didnt cluster Annette at all--she showed two drowned rats to a lovely room, then made us hot whiskey in the bar (purely medicinal). Her recommendation to the circle of friends for dinner was an excellent one. Breakfast was... More

We arrived late in the afternoon and were greeted like old friends. We are vegetarians and they went out of their way to find food for us. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The pub is a great find.

The room we stayed was a comfortable size. The beds, bedding, and bathroom added to the comforts of the Inn. Breakfast was large, varied, and lovely. The village is a quaint, little, place with limited places to eat out but Inistioge is only 5 minutes from Thomasville which has a wonderful restaurant, Cafe Sol. I would definitely recommend you skip... More

I have visited the Woodstock gardens on several occasions, but we have always stopped here for a cup a hot tea and something sweet. It is a gem of a place with warm atmosphere. If you ever visit the Woodstock gardens, I highly recommend this place for a visit as well.

After surviving a blizzard trying to get from Dublin to a 6th century monastery (the Garmin didn't take mountains into consideration), driving into Inistioge (pronounced Inishteeg) was like happening upon Brigadoon. It is what one imagines that an Irish village should be. Indeed Circle of Friends and Widow's Peak were filmed there. The room was large and basic. There was... More

We had a great stay here. We were 8 adults, 4 couples, and because we were travelling in the low season, we were given our choice of rooms. It was super bowl Sunday and the host put the bedroom tv tuned to the game, but also allowed us to stay late in one of their side rooms where they continued... More

We stayed here on sunday we had been at a christening in the neighbouring village but the Woodstock arms had been recommended to us by a friend to stay. Its a family owned premisis and they were very friendly on arrival. We were late checking in which was not a problem. We had some drinks in the bar which is... More

Picture the scene: first night of the holiday, staying at the Woodstock Arms in Inistioge, Co. Kilkenny, caught the lunchtime Swift ferry from Holyhead to Dublin and it's 10th June 2012. I'm in the bar with a Guinness and of course there's Ireland v Croatia on the television, the first match in the European Championship. So the Irish lost, but... More

I was walking the south Leinster way recently with some friends. We stayed overnight and the bedrooms were very comfortable. Breakfast was very nice and the staff were very pleasant. The bar is a real old gem and was full of locals chatting the evening away. Including the charming gentleman that told me he was a click past eithty. He... More

We stayed in the Woodstock Arms in Inistioge recently, beautifully set in heavily-wooded lands in South Kilkenny - a hidden gem of Ireland and delightful for walking, though the way-marking on the South Leinster Way could be improved. The Arms is a pub, plus bed-and-breakfast, with hospitable hosts, spotlessly-clean rooms and friendly service. Highly recommended, though ask for a room... More
