What a disappointment. This place looks pretty good from the outside, but the rooms are very shabby. Our bathroom was mildewy, the toilet flusher handle was hanging out of the wall, the ottoman to the only chair had a big cigarette burn in it and some suspicious stains dripping down the sides. Yuck. Don't be fooled by the gratious exterior and decor. Hotel wedding guests were loud and unruly, partying with no regard for other guests, banging and skamming doors, smokong in no smoking areas. Hotel staff, who were supposed to be on 24/7, were not reachable by phone or at the desk for over an hour after we called for security assistance... More

Friends of ours got married there on May 18th last. The civil cermony was held in the hotel and it was so personal and emotional it would bring a tear to your eye. The room where the cermony was held was small and ineimate just perfect for a very special couple.

The room was plenty big enough for five people. I was surprised at the space. Things were a bit dated and I would not want to walk barefooted on the carpet. It's old, but a classic. Great antique furnishings. The room was cozy and clean, with all the necessary amenities. We had a wonderful dinner there at very reasonable prices. Nice bar area. The hotel is just outside the Shannon airport, so very convenient. We would stay there again, and hopefully we will.

We decided to stay here so that we would be close to the Shannon airport for a mid day flight the following day. Big mistake. I would recommend the Temple Gate in Ennis instead.
