Arriving late in Bantry we didn't have time to shop around for suitable accommodation and being weary we opted for the first hotel we found. The reception area was lovely and sparkly and totally deceptive as we found the room to be utterly disappointing. After having to climb 3 flights of stairs with our heavy luggage as it seemed there... more

The Bantry Bay Hotel occupies a large imposing Georgian building on the main square in the centre of Bantry. It is a traditional old fashioned hotel that has been welcoming guests for 200 years and knows what it is doing. There are no computers modern gadgets here. The decor is of another era, lots of clashing florals in the bedroom... more

I stayed at the Bantry Bay Hotel in August for six nights with 5 other men on a fishing trip. We have stayed at lots of hotels in Ireland over the last 20 years but none better than the Bantry Bay. From the moment we arrived (late) nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the welcome was typicallly... more

On Saturday evening the 20th June had a meal in the Bar,Started with the Sea Food Chowder it was full of Bones and tasteless made with the cheapest parts of white fish. I left the bones on the plate so the waitress could see them and point them out to the chef, but when pointed out to her all she replied... more

Grand little hotel. I stayed there overnight on business as a last min decision. The rooms were average but very clean and what you would expect for €60 a night. Hotel staff in the bar were very friendly as was the locals. There was no problem in getting a late drink and having a bit of banter with the staff.... more

The reception staff are lovely, actually most of the staff were nice. The rooms are clean but the heating is turned to high. The breakfast is probably the worst in Cork or maybe even the whole of Ireland. The food is awful, the service is bad, even the fruit juice is terrible. However the food in the bar looked nice... more

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and was very impressed with the service. Bantry has breathtaking views and wonderful people. There are lots of shops, restaurants and pubs nearby. I read one of the earler reviews before i went advising me to go to the Snugg Inn. Can safely say that the review was spot on. Wonderful food and... more

we stayed for a week here recently. Its alovely hotel with a very modern, cosy, lobby on arrival where we enjoyed tea and coffee The receptionist was lovely and really welcoming. The rooms have a lovely traditional style in keeping with the hotel, THe Bar Restaurant serves a fabulous menu from seafood(delicious) to speciality dishes, and the staff are very... more

Dining room has excellent views, food and service are very good. There was live entertainment after dinner in the lounge on our first night, this was very good and the atmosphere was great. To get to our bedroom it was necessary to climb one flight of stairs up and then another down. Over half the hotel bedrooms are in this... more

I wish to point out that the above reviewer(beesap) is mistaken in thinking he or she stayed at the Bantry Bay Hotel on the night in question. There are several indicators of this. Most notabe is their reference to a leisure centre which the Bantry Bay Hotel does not have and also references to various bedroom wings involving travelling up...

In a lovely part of this already lovely seaside town: rooms adequate - quaint and small, if a bit cheaply done. The bar is busy and food ok. The most perfect thing about it is the position right by the pretty harbour, with a great restaurant - O'Connors next door - and lovely pubs all around. The one outrageous thing... more
