Thomastown County Kilkenny has so much to offer those on vacation - we loved the glass blowing experience, trout from the fish farm next door, all of the products available from the artists in Kilkenny City, Smithwicks Brewery too, the incredible scenery throughout the area, but especially the hospitality of Helen Blanchfield at Abbey House. This lady became our tour... more

This first-rate B&B has a location that can't be beat for the traveler who appreciates a great ruined abbey! Everything about the home itself is beautiful, high quality and welcoming. The hostess is warm, friendly, accomodating and professional. The breakfast was excellent and offered many choices. The grounds of the house with stream and ruined mill behind are interesting -... more

Just back from a stay in Abbey House, Kilkenny and I can recommend it highly. The guesthouse is lovely, with newly decorated rooms with comfortable beds and good bathrooms. Wonderful breakfast and nice gardens- it's on the site of an old mill and across the road is the the famous Jerpoint Abbey. The price of the rooms was very reasonable--... more

We were pleasantly surprised to find this B&B literally a stone's throw from one of the more interesting church/cloister sites in southern Ireland. Very large rooms, very affordable and a terrific Irish breakfast. Highly recommended. more

Abbey House is a delightful old home located next to an old mill stream and across the street from (well-worth-your-time) Jerpoint Abbey. The new carpet is stunning, the linens on the bed top notch, and the breakfast with fresh fruit was so appreciated. Helen Blanchfield is a genial B&B proprietor, one who knows the area and can confidently recommend places... more

We loved our stay at the Abbey House - possibly our favorite B&B in Ireland. The gardens are idyllic, including the babbling brook behind the property and the view of Jerpoint Abbey. Beautiful large rooms/bathrooms. The hosts were wonderful and squeezed fresh juice just for us with our Irish breakfast. Far more peaceful than staying in Kilkenny - loved it! more

My husband and I spent two days with Helen and her husband in Abbey House and loved every minute of it. Helen was warm and welcoming offering us afternoon tea on both of the afternoons that we stayed with her, suggesting the perfect place for dinner - the Mount Juliet golf course restaurant - and cooking and serving us the... more
