We were nearing the end of a three week holiday when we arrived at Ballaghtobin. It was wonderful. The history of the house, the grounds, and the a perfectly appointed guestroom and bath made it a destination all its own. The convenient, central location provided access Waterford, Cashel, and Kilkenny. Although a little off the beaten track, it is worth... more

Three of us (1 double, 1 single) spent 3 wonderful nights at Ballaghtobin. Impeccable surroundings, spacious suites (bedroom, bathroom & sitting room), and totally quiet surroundings on acres of its own grounds, Ballaghtobin was a most delightful experience. Did I mention our gracious hostess, Catherine? Or the excellent breakfasts? Or the honour bar in the guests' lounge? Highly recommended. more

Charming home and grounds, but off the beaten path. It is a large manor house that has been in the family for 350 years. We did not spend a great deal of time at the property, but the hostess was accomodating and pleasant. Excellent big Irish breakfast made to order with a large selection of fruit. The rooms are decorated... more

We stayed here for five wonderful nights. I can't say enough about how wonderful our hostess Catherine Gabbett was. She truly made us feel welcome. We had a twin bedded room. It was spacious and the beds were wonderfully comfortable. The attached bathroom was also big and had a heated towel rake. There was plenty of hot water and she... more

My wife and I stayed for one night only - alas - and were bowled over by Ballaghtobin and the generous owner, Catherine Gabbett. The house is beautiful inside and out, and the fittings would grace many a five-star hotel. Very highly recommended. more

My husband and I stayed at the Ballaghtobin on March 25th - the first night of our 10-day stay in Ireland. having never been to Ireland before, we wanted to get the real and authentic feel of rustic Irlend, so we drove right out of Dublin to Ballaghtobin the day we arrived. From the start, Catherine was helpful in answering... more

My friends and I have just arrived back home from Ireland where we spent a wonderful weekend. The absolute highlight of our trip was Ballaghtobin! This is certainly the most romantic place I have ever seen. I would definitely recommend it to everyone who is looking for something special and memorable. It is most of all about the feeling -... more

We stayed at Ballaghtobin in October 2005, and had a most pleasant stay! It was very convenient to the Kells area with all of its interesting ruins, and was also convenient to Kilkenny. The home was lovely, and the hostess was so gracious. We felt very welcomed and at home. We only stayed for 2 days, but commented over and... more

Been to Ireland 41 times and have never seen a lovelier house at any price. It's off the noisy routes in the middle of the country making it a great location whether travelling north to south or east to west. Close to Kilkenny, some of Ireland's best potters and glass specialists and Mount Juliet for the best riding and golf.... more
