We stayed two nights at this nice little B&B. Our host, Sean and his mother, Kitty, were absolutely lovely and greeted us like old friends. Sean was a great assistance to us, offering suggestions on what to do, and even gave us a ride to the bus when we left. The beds were very comfortable and breakfast was great. Both... more

We are so grateful that Rick Steves' recommended the Glenn-Na-Smol B&B in his Ireland tourbook. The house itself is lovely and spacious, and our room was attractive, quite comfortable and clean. The B&B hosts, Sean & Kitty Rickard, were so warm, gracious and generous to us (and all of the other guests), that we felt like close family friends in... more

The rooms at Gleann na Smol are awful! Our towels were thin and fraying at the edges, the carpet was old, there was a coat of dust on the lampshade, and one of the drawers had an open carton of cookies apparently left by a previous guest. The mattresses are very old, and you can practically feel the dust mites... more

We are shattered, shocked and totally at loss at the review we received on the 11th of August. Our guest house this year was painted throughout and new carpets put down and new beds put in all rooms three month to the August date.None of the mentioned problems were brought to our attention both on the day and on departure. We...

One of my favorite places I stayed in my 7 week trip across Europe. The owner Shawn is so nice, hospitable, and fun! He loved talking to us and sharing about Ireland, his family, and the culture! His mother is also incredibly sweet and lives there too! He cooks an amazing traditional Irish breakfast, the rooms are cute and roomy... more

...this is your B&B! Although the B&B is not that special, your hosts are indeed. Sean is a great guy, very friendly and eager to give you any indications you need. His elderly mother is just charming. Regardless her advanced age, she welcomed us with plenty of energy, and prepared some tea and cookies for us after showing us the... more

Sean is a wonderful host and quick with a story, information or any detail that is required. The breakfasts were cooked to order. Kitty is an absolute charm, and staying here is like staying with your family. The downside is that several of the rooms are far too small for the price. They should really be singles. Howth is a... more

While Sean is friendly, the rooms were terrible. The mattresses were ancient and very uncomfortable and the comforter had quite obviously not been washed. Additionally, the skylight was full of cobwebs. This was the most expensive place we stayed on our 10 day trip to Ireland and was by far the worts experience. more

Howth is a great location for people who want to visit Dublin without dealing with city hotels and crowds. It's a small commercial fishing village located 20 minutes from Dublin on the light rail line. This B&B is in a residential area on the hill above the harbor. The room we stayed in was bit cramped, with somewhat older furniture... more

My boyfriend and I found this wonderful B & B from Rick Steves Ireland Guide. When we arrived at Gleann-na-Smol, Sean and Kitty were there to welcome us. Sean is a very friendly Irish lad who runs the B & B along with his 89 (almost 90 yr old mother). She bakes fresh breads and jams daily. The price was... more
