Lovely hotel downstairs but the rooms are dismal and the cleanline3ss of them leaves a great deal to be desired. The food was good however. more

I was really worried about staying because the reviews were generally appalling so I emailed the hotel. To be fair, the reservations manager emailed with reassurances that our rooms would be personally inspected before our arrival. Not sure if this was actually done. Anyway, enjoyed the weekend but there were some drawbacks such as no hot water on first morning... more

Stayed here overnight on a coach tour and for that purpose it was just about adequate, but it is a hotel I would never wish to stay in again. The food was OK, but the room was bare, unattractive and dimly lit. The inter-room telephone connection did not work and the strip light over the wash handbasin in the oddly... more

It was a special recession deal and I paid about 50 Euro for a night in this hotel including breakfast and dinner - sounds like a good deal, but I still would NOT go back there. Considering as well that you have to pay 5 Euro for parking (not mentioned on the WEB-site) and Euro 12.50 a day if you... more

Stayed here for 5 nights on a touring base of Co. Wicklow. We should have realised from the address that anything that say's Main Street is a bad idea. From the noise of the pedestrian crossing all night to the arrival of coach parties arriving and departing at all hours with the bus engine running outside our bedroom window was... more

I really was dreading arriving at this hotel following the reviews, I even considered cancelling but I didn't want to loose my deposit. Yes the hotel is old and a bit run down, yes you have to pay 5 euro per night for car park, and yes my room was a bit stuffy, though my room was very clean. The... more

Some of the comments here are a bit harsh, the hotel is obviously suffering during this difficult time, aren't we all? It isn't the Ritz but they don't charge Ritz prices, it's a decent enough place to stay as a springboard to Wicklow which is a sensational county and I know some of the rooms are better than others but... more

Arrived at The Royal Hotel Bray for a one night stay with my boyfriend. Upon arrival we were asked to pay upfront for carpark and hotel which we did as we were paying cash. We then went up to our room which was filthy - stains on carpet, walls and bed linen, cobwebs in the corner, some sort of mould in... more
