First impressions of our room and the public rooms of the house were not the best but we would definitely stay here again. Hugh was just the nicest person, the view was fabulous, and our room was clean and comfortable. Great stay!

Yes, the house is not luxurious but is very comfortable with outstanding views.Breakfasts are first-class.The host ( Hugh) is remarkable ; he is charm personified and nothing is too much trouble. At the end of a long day of cycling we were disinclined to eat out. Hugh was happy to allow us to use the breakfast room to eat our... More

Our group of four spent two nights here. The views of the bay from the common rooms really are wonderful and there are two large sitting areas to relax in the evening, which we really appreciated after taxing days at the hiking and outdoor sites in this region. We had trouble with the hot water the first morning due to... More

Spent last 3 nights in Abbey Lodge. Hugh is a friendly, warm and welcoming fella who is very approachable. He couldn't do enough for us. The views are exceptional and the location is ideal. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spotless. Hugh is happy for his guests to eat as much as they like, and provides a... More

The Abbey Lodge was truly a find! Hugh is a wonderful host and the views were beautiful. Breakfast was elegantly served. Close to the middle of town, about 5 minutes of passing interesting shops. Plenty of space to hang out, room was clean and comfortable. Can't go wrong here!

For us, this was a quick one-night stop. The view from our room was fantastic, the owner was very kind and even gave us a bottle of wine since it was our honeymoon! The location is nice - far enough out of town that we don't have to bother with city center noise, but close enough that it's a short... More

We chose the place more or less at random online. When we arrived, we found the building itself to be nothing spectacular, but a pleasant modern building with generous common areas, adequate sized rooms and reasonable amenities. But the location -- at the very top of a hill overlooking the town and the sea and islands below and to the... More

My husband and I spent two nights in Ardara and we just loved it. We heard wonderful music, ate delicious food and enjoyed our stay at the Abbey Lodge. The bed and breakfast is a five minute walk from most of the pubs in town and has wonderful views of the bay. Hugh was warm, funny and made us feel... More

This B&B is on top of a hill, with great views of the bay to the south and mountains all around, from either of two living rooms and the breakfast room. And just a short walk into town for dinner or stores - good place to get Irish sweaters. Hugh cooks a great breakfast and is helpful on what to... More
