Barberstown Castle is nicely located, and has many of the attributes of a country house hotel. However, be warned. They have what, in my experience, appears to be a unique policy of not allowing classic cars to be parked in their car park, by paying guests. So, if you are going on the Gordon Bennett Rally, the Malin to Mizen... more

Our recent visit to Barberstown was wonderful. While we had a slightly less pleasant experience when staying for a wedding there in Feb 08, we were glad to see that things are back to an excellent standard. The rooms are beautiful, bigger than some modern apartments! We were given a stunning room on the ground floor, which I suspect was... more

Stayed in Barberstown Castle for a family wedding. Very impressed by the grounds and function rooms on our arrival but I feel that the hotel is very badly let down in some basic areas. First of all the reception staff weren't in the least bit welcoming or helpful and our rooms were not ready on arrival so we had to... more

The service at the Barberstown is what you would expect for the price--Impeccable. Every member of the staff is extremely pleasant and helpful in every way. The rooms are actually in an add-on to the castle structure, but were very well appointed. The bathroom was nicely done as well. My stay here was excellent, although the food was a bit... more

Attended a wedding here and was very impressed. The hotel and setting are beautiful, set back off a road on a lovely estate. Everything for the wedding went extremely smoothly. The staff were so professional, you hardly noticed they were there. The food was excellent. the functions rooms looks like medieval banqueting halls; really beautiful and atmospheric. I did not... more

We were attending a wedding at Barberstown and so opted to stay the night there too. From previous reviews we were a bit worried about the room but we actually had a lovely big room which was very well furnished and close to reception, dining room etc. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The wedding we attended was a... more

My sister got married here three years ago next month. I just wanted to say it was the best wedding i was ever at. THere are open fires in the function room and beautiful decor. Working in the business i would be quite critical. But i would say the quality of food and level of service was excellent. My sister... more

I have to say that this venue completely underwhelmed my wife and I. We have been fortunate to stay at some lovely inns and castles within Ireland over the years. This particular lodging was by far the worst on a dollar weighted basis. Very expensive for an expierence that was average. Not a great deal of charm for the money.... more

Barberstown Castle came highly recommended to me from a family friend. My husband and I were both very excited to stay there for our 1st wedding anniversary. I have to say, I was completely underwhelmed, considering what we payed to stay there. Let me start off by saying that there were no major problems, just some minor annoyances and head... more

We had our wedding reception in Barberstown Castle 28th June 2007 and things could not have been more special. Not one person was disappointed with the food (and there were some seriously fussy diners there). There was an abundance of food being offered. We opted for the fillet of beef and it was just perfect. Our veggie friends were also... more
