Castle Hamilton is home to restored accommodation which provide a homely feel.Pets are more than welcome and that was the main reason why we choose it for a short two night stay. It was the perfect location to enjoy the great outdoors, with a choice of beautiful walks on the estate. If you want there is a wide range of activities such as walking, fishing and boating. We had a great stay with our miniature schnauzers and we all had a brilliant time. There was lots if areas to walk, explore and exercise our dogs. The owners Audrey and Alan are always around and will provide you with a wealth of knowledge about the area and places to go and things to do. The house was clean, tidy and spacious. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need. The area us very quiet and there isn't many places around nearby to eat particularly at the start of the week.We found that Belturbet which is 15 kilometers away was able to provide us with food and drink. Please note it can be difficult to get a phone signal and WiFi around the accommodation. I would highly recommend it for a trip away.

We travelled as a family of 7 and 3 small dogs. Alan and Audrey couldn't have been more helpful, we stayed in the 4 bedroom house, which was sat in its own garden, it was very private and peaceful. The dogs had the freedom to run round the garden. We had the use of the lake and were able to take the rowing boats out which was great. It was a lovely place to recharge the batteries. Internet access was sporadic in the grounds but actually was lovely to allow us to switch off from our busy lives. We knew that if we needed access WiFi it was available in the games room and closer to the courtyard accommodation. We will definitely return to this house as we had a lovely time.

Were a few friends that travel several times a year on pike fishing trips that just happened across Castlehamilton holiday cottages. We were met by owners Alan & Audrey who are truly lovely people who could not do enough for us. The historic accommodation just ouside the town of Killeshandra, Co. Cavan is superb on all fronts and very good value. Alan personalty brought us to a great & close boat launch point on the Oughter water system and set us off with great tips on where big pike have been recently caught. He also directed us to sceanic sites like Cloghoughter Castle in the system. Audrey made sure we had everything we needed and was on hand at all times to ensure we thoroughly enjoyed our stay to the max. On the last day one of our boat trailers had a damaged wheel and both Alan & Audrey spent the best part of 2 hours helping us get back on the road. I can't say enough about the hospitality we recieved on our stay here. If your looking to say in exceptionally maintained historic accommodation in the wonderful lake county of Cavan for the best of fishing on your doorstep and hosted by lovely people who are dedicated to to making sure your trip is the best it can be...... then stay here. The Lough Oughter system is a great stop for some serious pike fishing. We will be back for sure.

Stayed here during the Summer 21 and what a fab location. Beautiful historic estate where lodges are housed in restored buildings with everything possible in lodges for the comfort of your stay by the owners Alan n Audrey who were simply superb and so helpful. Nothing was too much for them. Houses were spotless and lovely comfy beds. Plenty to do and see, fishing, cycling, boating on the lake, fishing, walking and just enjoying being on what is a working farm was magic. Yet it is quiet and peaceful. We went into Enniskillen one day, a beautiful town. The fact that we were able to bring our dogs was superb. This is a gem of a place and would highly recommend for a real feel of country life yet on the edge of the local town killeshandra. There is so much to see and do in and around Killeshandra it is definitely a place we will return as the hospitality shown was outstanding and a real find for us. would highly recommend. Bring your bikes and enjoy the surrounding walks and cycle paths.

Stayed here with my wife and two young kids for 2 nights. I can't recommend this place enough! Beautiful, clean accomodation and fantastic estate! Audrey and Alan were so nice and friendly! Alan took the kids on a little drive on his tractor which they won't stop going on about! I may have to invest in one now!! Kids had a ball roaming around the countryside!! Thank you and we'll hopefully be back!!

Fabulous place . The website doesn’t do itself justice as it was better than we expected , great hosts , fantastic setting and views . The cottage had everything we needed to catch up with family and relax and unwind . Several trails / walks around the estate and we didn’t get enough time to do more things . Audrey & Alan we will be back , 5 Stars

Our extended family rented two beautiful & comfortable cottages - one in the courtyard & the gate lodge. Perfect spot for a family gathering age range 15-89, something for everyone. Beautiful forest walks, peaceful lake swims, kayaking & surrounded by historic landmarks. - great eating out spots in ballyconnel & butlers bridge. The houses are really comfortable & have everything we needed to enjoy our Cavan getaway.

We made a last minute booking with Castle Hamilton a late cancelation of another property. We were delighted they accommodated us at such short notice. We notified Audrey we would be traveling with an 8 month old baby and 3 small dogs as the property is advertised as pet friendly. We received no reply but still set off for the weekend. We arrived at about 4.30 and firstly shown to the wrong house we were then shown to our house in the courtyard. On immediate arrivals we were disappointed that there was no enclosed area for our dogs and the property was very dirty and a musty smell, we had to go to the local shop to buy disinfectant candles and air fresheners. We contacted Audrey around 7pm to let her know we weren't happy with the house and had she another house/cottage we could be moved to, she said she would come up to us straight away, at about 9.30 when she still hadn't come near us or contacted us we made the decision to leave first thing in the morning, had we not had a baby we would have left straight away. We notified Audrey of our decision to leave in the morning. Next morning I brought the dogs out to go to the toilet etc before making a 2 hr journey home ,one of our dogs wandered on the surrounding land before we brought her back to the car. We left the property at 8.30 and notified Audrey of our departure and we were leaving the key in door as we had found it and still got no response. On arrival home one of our dogs had been sick in the car and we put it down to travel sickness the next day our dog became very sick and was hemorrhaging so badly the vet took her in straight away and put her on a drip . He told us our dog was seriously I'll due to poisoning. We contacted Audrey to inform her and ask for a refund . She won't respond to emails text messages and declined our phone calls. She now has our numbers blocked. Sadly our gorgeous little dog has to be put to sleep as the poisoning was so servere due to what ever she ate on the land in Castle Hamilton. We are apaulled with how we have been treated by Audrey and would definitely never in a million years ever recommend anyone ever staying there . It was an awful experience for us resulting in the loss of our dog and want people to know particularly if you have pets ☹️☹️☹️

I booked castlehamilton the night before our stay for 3 nights due to a property cancelling… we were grateful they could accommodate us and looked forward to our stay…I let Audrey know that we had 3 dogs and a 8 month old baby which wasn’t acknowledged… we got there and were brought to a cottage that wasn’t meant for us and then brought up to a house on the courtyard.. we felt the house wasn’t suitable for 3 dogs was filthy we bought dettol, to clean and candles to make it smell nice… I rang Audrey at 7.15 that evening to state how we felt and if there was another property for us to be moved to she said she would come up straight away to talk to us… 2 hours later still no sign so I txt her saying we were leaving the next morning and we would have no problem paying for the night but want to be refunded for the 2 nights we wouldn’t be there… no txts were acknowledged…to cut a long story short speaking as a business woman myself unprofessional is to nice of a word to use… Booking.com have been chasing Audrey to authorise our refund and she has blocked our phones…this property should not be listed as pet friendly because due to the lack of secured garden spaces for pets one of our dogs has to be put to sleep due to something ate on that land because she ran off down into a field…. The decent thing to do on her behalf is refund us our money but she won’t….wouldn’t recommend this property at all…pics below are what our dog has endured..
