We have enjoyed two holidays at Ardmore House this year, in June and October. The house is set in a beautiful location at the foot of the Slieve Bloom mountains. Our room was spacious and comfortable and Christine, our Hostess, made us very welcome, treating us to homemade bread, scones and preserves with our cooked breakfasts. Christine is a hive... more

As coordinator of a Belgian based walking group I was fortunate to make contact with Christina Byrne of Ardmore House who found accommodation for our 40+ participants in the village of Kinnitty. She also organised a local walk guide, John Scully, who shared with us his intimate knowledge Slieve Bloom mountains, its local history, flora and fauna. Those of us... more

We stayed two nights with Christina in Ardmore House. It was a truly enjoyable experience as we were greeted with tea and fresh homemade scones on arrival. We were then shown to our room, which had a beautiful canopy bed and had the most wonderful views of the Slieve Bloom mountains. On our first evening, we enjoyed a scenic walk... more

The Ardmore House is conveniently located and has ample parking. The house is a proud Victorian with high ceilings and a lovely peat fire. When we arrived, Christina was not there, and we were taken to our room by one of her staff. Shortly thereafter, we were told that we needed to change rooms, because a larger family needed our... more

Our stay with Christina was most enjoyable. The Victorian house set in it's own grounds and beautiful gardens was so well appointed, and right at the edge of the typically delightful Irish Village of Kinnitty. It is remarkable just how well positioned Kinnitty is for so many nearby towns of interest, yet allows for the quietness one associates with Ireland... more

We stayed two nights in Ardmore House and is was as good as it gets. The house is beautiful with very clean rooms and full of atmosphere. The turf fire was burning all day and the breakfast was superb. The surroundings are perfect for walking in the Slieve Bloom Mountains or a visit to a nearby town or site of... more

One of our favorite evenings during our trip to Ireland was spent at the Ardmore House. Christina welcomed us warmly, offered my husband and me the pretty, spacious front bedroom, since we were celebrating an anniversary, and helped to settle the kids in lovely comfort of upstairs bedrooms. Because we had expressed interested in eating in a castle, she had... more

We stayed at the Ardmore House for our first two nights in Ireland. Perfect, even though my daughter was cold (but she's always cold). Big comfortable rooms, heated sheets, wonderful lounge (peat fire), great breakfasts, and lovely town. We visited Clonmacnoise, Birr, Leap Castle and Kinnitty Castle close by. Christina is quite a fiddle player. Highly recommended. more

Ardmore House was one of the best B&Bs we stayed at in Ireland and the U.K. Chris Byrne , the proprietor made us very welcome and was a mine of information about the local area. We are into Irish Music and as a keen musician herself , she was able to point us to local 'sessions' and festivals. We won't... more
