My husband and I stayed at Ballyvolane House in October and totally loved it. We stayed in a number of country house hotels and some city hotels and we liked Ballyvolane the best. It doesn't feel like a hotel at all as it is an authentic Irish manor house. Some of the other places had been renovated and unfortunately lost... more

Me and my siblings sent my mother here for her 60th birthday and she was very disappointed. The biggest disappointment was the food, which you would expect to be special at the price. There was no choice offered and they were all served a very ordinary fish, Skate, with very ordinary accompaniments. The starter was a salad. For 55 euro... more

Ballyvolane is a lovely house with idyllic grounds and a great place to spend a night or 2 in. It is not particularly luxurious and therein lies it's charm. The rooms are fairly functional in a kind of 1950's chintzy way but have nice bedding and lovely views. Ladies with long hair may wish to wash their hair before staying... more

My family and I had a quick stay here last July on our tour thru Ireland. When booking hotels, I really wanted to get a true country house experience and this was certainly it. It's the kind of place you wish was your own - how lucky the Green Family is! The grounds are absolutely amazing - we spent about... more

Ballyvolane House is a special place. The house itself has been beautifully refurbished and sits on gorgeous gardens and grounds - the doves were particularly lovely. The hosts (Jenny and her father-in-law, Jeremy while we were there - Justin was away) were very sweet and welcoming while being utterly professional. The food is excellent - good quality, well executed and... more

The house is beautiful, our room was gorgeous, but the whole place had an empty, "the Shining" vibe. There is no lock on the bedroom door, so the hosts can go in and close the windows and turn down the bed for you. The living room is comfy and they'll build you a big fire to enjoy, and bring tea... more

We stayed with our 3 young children for just one night, but wished we had booked for longer. We had lovely rooms which were across the corridor from each other, but away from the other rooms a little so we didn't disturb the other guests. The rooms were huge with gorgeous views of cows and countryside, and everywhere was spotlessly... more

I've stayed at Ballyvolane four times over the last three years, so the repeat visits tell you a lot already. The last time, we had a family reunion there, and the rest of my family adored it. This is a beautiful, tasteful, charming, comfortable, and welcoming place which i love. I've stayed in tons of hotels in Ireland for work,... more

We had our wedding here last December (a small affair with just family and close friends) and absolutely loved it. It's about half an hour from Cork, and very rural, but the directions are good and it was easy enough to find (though I wouldn't fancy the drive on a dark wet night, if it was my first time trying... more

Ballyvolane is a complete retreat from the day to day grind. Stepping back to a time of elegance, graciousness and charm, our hosts welcomed us with afternoon tea and the freedom of their home. Days can be filled easily with croquet, gentle walks, fishing, music and conversation with guests from all parts of the world. A privilege to be able... more
