The hotel location is a nice hidden retreat. The staff are pleasant and accommodating. The food is reasonable, but nothing inspiring. The hotel is old, which is part of its charm, but many areas are in need of a bit of TLC. Free WiFi throughout is a plus.

Spent 6 days at the end of April 2013. Food cooked to order (a pleasant change), served by pleasant and cheerful staff. Front of house staff most helpful (thank you Lesley and Cheryl in particular). Room clean, comfortable, and Wi-fi worked fine. Local bird life suicidal on narrow roads (like some drivers) but no deaths resulted.

We stayed here for one night on the 28th April on the way to Cornwall. Very nice relaxing hotel.Room was refubished, large and very comfortable. The food was Excellent and so was the Breakfast. Staff very helpful and friendly.

We needed a last minute overnight stay on the way to Cornwall so this hotel was well placed just outside of Exeter, albeit about 4 miles down narrow lanes from the A30. what a perfect place to come and unwind...... good fro all sorts, for all reasons, but NOT if you like noise and bright city lights...... this is the antithesis to all that: an oasis of calm in the Devon countryside miles from anywhere.
