We travelled to Saretto upon a friend's recommendation. Upon reaching Diego, the 5 of us were shown our accomodation in a local village, next to Mount Castello in a beautiful old converted barn with all mod cons and lovely views.

La Tavernetta di Diego (Diego’s Tavern) is located in Saretto (1540m, Acceglio township) in the upper Maira Valley, a real paradise for those who are passionate about mountains, nature and outdoor sports. Saretto is a strategic location for easily access trekking, excursions, climbing on the Castello-Provenzale rocks and mountain bike trips, without needing to use the car. The kitchen of the fabulous chef Luigi is simple and genuine. Meat certified by the Slow Food association, local cheeses and vegetables and selected wines. Special pizzas (just for dinner) and bread cooked in a wood oven. Bar open from the morning to the late evening allowing one to have refreshments at any hour. The five cosy rooms are equipped with comfortable beds, an autonomous bath room and if needed a cooking area.
