Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The hotel is a bit old fashioned. Very classy old fashioned in the bar and public spaces, only old fashioned in the room. We had booked a family room, and after the sleeping couch was pulled out, one could hardly move over to open the balcony. I never understand why tooms like that ate offered as ‘family rooms’ - isn’t it obvious that you need more space when travelling as a family, not less? Also, the bed made out of the sleeping couch was extremely uncomfortable. The breakfast was great, and - again - the public spaces offered cosy corners.

As we payed a upgrade to the second floor, I can o ly say that the standard room miss several things which we would miss. The second floor room was prefect with everything one could need. The restaurant is quite expensive and with few food elections. Whatever the lobby bar has some good tasting sandwiches etc... You come by car, as bus connections to Vejle is non existing. The surroundings offer nice forrest walks. The reception a little distancing, but OK. Our reservation over Booking com was disgusting. Their "machine " did not have the least understanding for a visa cart problem. 2 days before our comming, they told us the reservation for 4 days definitely was canceled 🤬 Never again through booking com.

Maybe this was a luxury hotel once, but that must have been 50 years ago. Staff could have been more service minded. The room standard is not really up to the expectations of this price standard. Dinner buffet was really not up to par for the price. The tennis court was nice though.

One of the best hotels i ever been in Denmark. Amazing hotel with great view over the forest and sea. The rooms are very spacious, breakfast was good and nice staff. This hotel will always be my first choice when i visit areas around Horsens or Aarhus.

Nice hotel. Amazing area with lots of forest and a beautiful view over the bay. The premises are very classic, well maintained and adds to the nice atmosphere. Easy parking, nice breakfast, good food in the restaurant, etc. Highly recommendable!

This hotel is dated to say the least. If you like red brick walls and 70s style you will enjoy it, but it reminded me of Skejby Hospital in Aarhus. The rooms are of eastern european standard. The bathrooms are okay, not modern in any way but okay. The receptionist at check-in wasn’t exactly friendly either. The worst thing was the loud noise of a vacuum cleaner banging into furniture at 0615 in the morning. Our last chance to sleep in in a long time. Tried to talk to the receptionist about it, but only got a blank stare in return - no compensation what so ever. They could have vacuumed the carpet outside the pool area instead, it needed it more and wouldn’t wake up guests. No shampoo or conditioner in the pool showers either, just a cheap "Tork" plastic container with some sort of multi purpose soap. Very disappointing, annoying and unprofessional. The only good thing was the breakfast (compared to Scandic), but all in all this is a two star and not a four star.

Room Tip: Avoid unless you plan to awaken at 0615 in the morning and are a fan of 1970 style.

Dear eljinka Thank you for staying with us at Munkebjerg Hotel. I am sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations. We are very proud of the classic Munkebjerg style with the finest danish design in furniture and interior, and the warm and welcoming ambience in the lobby, but I understand if you prefer different. We do not start cleaning rooms and corridors until about 9 am, but I am very sorry to hear that you were disturbed early in the morning. We appreciate your feed back. Best Regards Susanne, receptionen

The Munkebjerg hotel was our first stop in Denmark. We chose it because of the comfort, the central position and it's an acceptable distance from our home. What we loved: The pool was wonderful The employees were ver nice The stunning view The size of the rooms The great Breakfast The food a la carte Feedback The beds were a little too soft, we both slept in a hole. We missed a wiper in the shower to clean the shower a bit for the next person.

Treetop room was necessary for that extra space (double bed and two camp beds) and the balcony. Really clean and the bed was super comfortable. The bathroom was large and well stocked. Pool was nice but cold (also bring your own towels from the room). Breakfast was great - lots of fruit, cold meats, fresh omelets available (scrambled eggs too salty). Staff were really helpful and friendly. Only downside was the dinner menu was really expensive - 55 euro for main courses, 19 euro for ice-cream. Too pricey for a family and I didn't see a kids menu. Local McDonalds was great. We stayed for three nights and would go back again.

Munkebjerg Hotel is situated overlooking Vejle Fjord and the view from our room was to die for. Everything was perfect. Check-in. Coffee and cake. Walking trail. Breakfast. One thing we still don't understand is why almost every hotel we've stayed in have problems descaling showers. It is extremely easy and would make a great impact for the guests. But all in all a great stay :-)

We really enjoyed our stay. The swimming pool was very clean, as well as the dressing rooms. There were many facilities to relax, like a sauna, jacuzzi, the gym and the pool. The breakfast was also amazing. Some may consider it basic, but since I'm a picky eater (sadly) I really enjoyed it. Our room was nice as well. If you like soft beds, then this is great for you. The staff was also very friendly and spoke great English. Mange Tak!
