Returning to my home town is always enjoyable, but staying at the Roker again lived up to expectation. It is a good 3 star hotel. We stayed in the executive room overlooking the sea, and had breakfast included, which was very good. Some of th furnishings and the DIY maintenance leaves a bit to be desired, it wouldn't take much... More

Not very inspiring entry from rear 'secure parking' (discovered afterwards that there is lots of parking on the very visible front of the hotel), but helpful reception. Wound our way up and down to reach our first floor room. Room nicely furbished, all functional, extra milk provided when requested, free wi fi worked well. Ate in the Italian restaurant -... More

Have stayed here twice in the last 3 months and the experience very much depends on the room assigned. Our first stay was better - room was on one of the upper floors. Second time, we were assigned to the basement - not so good. Other members of our party had cold rooms and no hot water. Breakfast was okay.... More

Just spent an overnight stay at the hotel, rooms were generally ok however please check the shower controls as both my room and another guest's room shower did not work. Food in the bar area was in short supply and talking to other guests who had to wait up to an hour for a basic bar meal on a Saturday... More

What a set up! A group of us travel to Sunderland from various parts of the country for every home game. The Roker hotel provide a free bus to take you to the ground at 2.20pm, so we decided to go earlier and have lunch. Upon arrival we were told that they would take our table number and would ALLOW... Stayed here on buisness with 3 other colleagues. I got a really nice well furnished room with a great view. They got terrible rooms in what they described as the "dungeon", with no view. We eat in the bar and got the usual type of bar fayre..just ok. The staff were fairly friendly and service ok. The atmosphere in the... More

From start to finish this festive experience was a total flop. Bar area gridlocked which bordered on a cattle market style of queing, even though we had pre paid drink vouchers we were expected to return our own glass in order to get a refil,no glass no drink! were unable to enjoy the evening as most of the socializing was done... Stayed overnight when attending a family funeral. The hotel was fine - friendly staff, room clean, bar facility for later night drinking for residents. Lift and parking. On sea front. Only complaint would be the rooms are quite warm, although it is possible to open the window. Bed comfortable. Powered shower. Good selection of tea and coffee making facility. Iron... More

Stayed at the Roker last night on business. First time since October last year. The same staff were on duty and they are brill. Nothing is a problem to them. If you are in the North east of England then stay here. Food, they have got it all with amazing bar meals, a separate Thai restuarant and a separate Italian.... More
