Just raked through some old bits and pieces from a London trip and found a leaflet for the Warish Hall Farm from Oct 2004 (?)

My partner & I missed our last flight from Stansted to Glasgow, so the airport arranged accomodation. To be honest, we weren't expecting much, but were so worn out after a long day, we didn't care.

The Warish, with its big comfy bed and huge (for me) relaxing bath, made for a great stay. We had one of the soundest sleeps anywhere. We only had time for coffee & toast and a brief chat with the owner before heading back to the airport, but if I ever get stuck at Stansted again, I know where I'll head. more

Less than two miles and an easy taxi ride from Stansted Airport is a wonderful bed and breakfast in an old manor house dating back to the 10th century - complete with moat! The grounds are impecable and include a wonderful English gardern with hiking trails everywhere. Well known by pilots with layovers, the house is managed by Anna Mitchell who serves up a terrific English Breakfast. There is no airport noise as the farm is not in the flight path. So if you have a layover, don't hesitate to stay! You'll wish your layover were longer. This would make a good home base for touring Essex. (It is twenty-five minutes to Cambridge on a great freeway.)
