I recognize one of my fellow guests from the previous review of this lovely hotel and would agree with all he said. The location is great, just a 5 minute stroll from the main plaza in Jerez, and less to the Cathedral. Clean, cool (silent air conditioning in the room), friendly. Food was very good in the restaurants recommended by... more

From the second I was welcomed to La Fonda Barranco by David (the host) I felt that this short weekend is going to be a memorable one. The old architecture of the house exuded character in line with the city of Jerez. I was warmly welcomed and well settled into a spacious roof-top accommodation that overlooked the Cathedral. The room... more

Like others who have positively reviewed this delightful small hotel in the historic town of Jerez, we found hosts David and Fiona both helpful and charming. They clearly love this region in Spain and try to assist with any question or request. An old world ambience is faithfully captured in this restored merchant’s house. It is located in the former... more

Of all the hotels I've found through TripAdvisor, the best of many excellent ones has to be the Fonda Barranco, where I stayed four days. It was as wonderful as described, a truly exceptional experience.    Fonda Barranco is beautiful and quiet, with a substantial breakfast: wide selection, primo coffee, fresh fruit (strawberries and outstanding oranges). But what sets it apart... more

Our family of four booked four nights at the La Fonda Barranco over the Santa Semana holiday in April ´09. We could not have chosen better accommodations for our first trip to Jerez. The pensione was conveniently located to all the restaurants, tapas bars and cafes that were a treat to find along the winding streets of Jerez. And it... more

Don't let one poor review - over one issue - put you off staying at La Fonda Barranco. Read all the other excellent reviews as they are far more representative of this hostale and its personal hospitality. It's a fascinating and most enjoyable change from modern chain hotels, good though some of these can be. I won't repeat what others... more

Jerez is what I call old Spain as most people only speak Spanish so not much English around, just the way I like it. An the moment you step into the La Fonda Barranco you realise just how nice Spain can be. To get to the hotel can be a bit of trek but if you have SatNav in the... more

I booked this on the basis of the reviews I read and they were correct. This is a really nice guesthouse in the old part of Jerez. It is within walking distance of all the local attractions and is easy to get to by car. Fiona was very helpful with advice on local attractions and also booking restaurants etc. and... more

We had a lovely weekend stay at this lovely merchants house in Jerez. The location is excellent, quiet but very close to all city amenities. Room was very comfortable, decent size beds, excellent shower, great breakfast, easy parking and coupled with excellent local advice from David and Fiona this is a very very good place to stay - a lot... more
