After traveling extensively through southern France and Italy we look for rural and ancient places to stay and Antico Borgo Poggiarello is our favorite. This part of Tuscany is exquisite, with rolling hills and ancient towns, but mainly we love this place because of the family that runs it. It's the closest a foreigner will get to living "under the... more

this was our 2nd trip to Poggiarello, and we loved it even more than the first time. Our apartment overlooked the most beautiful sunsets we've ever seen! We absolutely love the family.. the hospitality couldnt have been better! Grazia, the wife of Nino the owner, gave me some amazing cooking lessons, I came home to San Francisco and bought a pasta... more

The rooms are spacious and very comfortable, with a kitchen (which we didn't use as we were only there one night), small dining area with table. pool was very nice, scenery is spectacular and the hosts were very charming- great with our 10 year old and the teenagers as well. Food was really tasty-perhaps has changed since original revews. the... more

As a couple with a young baby, we recently stayed for a week in Antico Borgo Poggiarello. We've travelled quite extensively in Italy, especially Tuscany, staying in both hotels and self catering properties. This year, after a wonderful week in Puglia, we flew up to stay here. The 'village' is certainly set in the midst of the most beautiful tuscan... more

This beautiful agriturismo was recommended in a book about special places to stay in italy. It certainly was a very special place. It took quite a while to get there from the main road, but worth the trip! This property contains several buildings that make up a beautiful old Italian country estate. The family who runs it is very friendly... more

We just returned form a 3 night stay here, and I was relieved that the worst of the reviews here were not at all true. First, the grounds were anything but "unkempt." They were actually very beautiful, carefully landscaped and well-maintained. There were flowers everywhere, and nothing looked at all rundown. The flowers did attract some bees, which is true... more

when making the booking, the hosts were made aware that we we four familes with a total of 11 children. We didn't receive a particularly warm welcome, upon our arrival, the apartments were not made up to include beds for everyone in our individual families, although that was soon rectified. We dined in on our first evening,( the self catering facilities... more

My partner and I stayed here during a tour of Italy in March and April. I wish I had heeded some of the warnings listed on this site and stayed elsewhere. I should point out that the place was not completely dreadful, the view was nice and the rooms were clean. We could have stayed somewhere worse. But we could... more

We stayed at 5 hotels in Italy (2 in Tuscany). This hotel was by far the worst (not to mention one of the most expensive). The room was clean but felt "cold" and the whole place had a very negative vibe. There were tons of hidden costs: (i) unlike all of our other accomodations in Italy, breakfast was not included... more

My husband and I like to choose small B&B's or inns that offer something special and unusual in architecture or location. Also that exudes a feeling of warmth and hospitalilty. This was a spectaular choice for our visit to Tuscany for two days in mid-September. Nino and his wife, and son Roberto were charming and perfect hosts. The food was... more
