Just back from a week in the Dom Pedro Portobelo apartments. We got an exceptionally good deal and had read some other reviews of the Dom Pedro Portobelo so our expectations were not high. We booked five rooms for the end of November, all had lovely sea views, we booked the Studio Appartments, they were all large and very clean if a bit dated. The staff were very helpful especially Carla you cooked and served breakfast, nothing was too much trouble for her and she always had a smile to greet us.

We have just returned from the above hotel. I spent hours reading other peoples comments and most of them were true. Yes, things like furniture and fittings are dated BUT the hotel is spotless and the staff are so friendly and helpful. This was our 3rd visit to Vilamoura but first stay at the Portobelo. I would agree this is not a 4star hotel - it is friendly and comfortable enough but furnishings are quite dated and the bathroom is especially "dingy". We just completed a weeks stay at the Dom Pedro Portobelo. The Pros: Well located with close proximity to the beach and to the marina. Pool area is quite nice. Rooms are spacious with large decks and great views. The Cons: Beds are made of concrete. Kitchens are minimal...you won't want to do a lot of cooking! Facility is clean... More

Staying elsewhere in Vilamoura, we ate in the evening twice at this restaurant. Excellent food with particularly good sauces and attentive, friendly service. Ambiance/surroundings not particularly good but if you like well prepared meals at a reasonable cost, I would recommend trying it.
