When we were planning a Christmas holiday with the family in Hungary, we were told “then you must go skiing in Schladming, in Austria—that’s what everyone does!” Of course we had never heard of it, but it turns out to be a charming old town with a 4-mountain interconnect of slopes and lots of new snow making equipment.
