I've stayed at the Smart Hotel and the Waldhorn on the way to skiing. They are comparable but the Waldhorn is the better all rounder.
I'm sure this would make a good base for exploring Kempten Allgau. If, like me, you're just passing through it's ideal. Busy restaurant took orders til 2100 (great beer), reception manned til 2300 and (fabulous) breakfast was meant to start at 0700 but we were served at 0630. Service was friendly and efficient.
We stayed in the main hotel (96 Euro). Bigger than the typical business hotel room but otherwise pretty standard accommodation. Thoroughly recommended. more
