We have just returned from a weekend in Bad Aibling, about an hours drive south of Munich. In Bad Aibling there is limited choice of accommodation, but we found the B&O Park Hotel online and liked the look of it. It surpassed our expectations! I believe it only opened in 2008 and comprises a number of buildings around a tree lined square. The whole site is very interesting. The US army occupied it from 1945 and more recently an American Intelligence unit, who left in 2006. B&O are really a construction company, who specialise in renovation, and purchased the whole site (some 70 hectares - much of it woodland) with the hotel representing the first conversion/renovation. They have done it very well. The hotel has a minimalist feel but the use of natural wood floors and furniture choice give it warmth. The staff were charming and enthusiastic.
