We booked Martin's Lido for one night when we went to a trade show in Brussels through Bookings.com. It was priced at Euro 133 for a standard room including breakfast. Their website had such good pictures and boasting about their property as Normandy style manor house. However, when we got there we found this run-down tired looking building with dead flowers in flower boxes outside. Then we discovered our room was actually a part of fire escape and the only window in the room is directly opening to fire escape. The room was tiny and tired looking, and we found towels for only one person. There was no tissues in the tissue box, and mini bar was empty. When I tried to drink tap water with a glass, it smelled unclean. Walls were all so thin and next door's TV kept us awake until after midnight. We didn't bother about next morning's breakfast, but when we asked for a price reduction at check-out, girls at reception became aggressive and said that we should have been happy with the price... more
