We just got back from a 5 days Norway trip and we stayed at Heimly for two nights. The entirior has all recenlty been done up and it is all very clean and tidy. Not very hip and there were mostly elderly couples staying with us, at least this time of the year, but as Flam is rather quiet anyway... more

We needed one night before catching the fast ferry the next day at 4pm. The only ferry out to Bergen is at 4pm. A lovely room with view of the fjord and the three cruise ships that were in. Very nice dinner and breakfast. We enjoyed a walk up the valley the next day. more

The Heimly is a short walk from the Flamsbana. It is situated right off the fjord with a beautiful view. We got a discounted rate with the fjord pass. The haborside rooms in the pension have great views of the Fjords, and they are great to wakeup to in the morning. They have a great breakfeast, clean rooms, and are about a 10 minute walk to Flam. If you are looking for grand accomidations, totally quiet rooms, and a place in Flam, look elsewhere. more

A well located if somewhat spartan little hotel overlooking the fjord. Our 'double room' was clean and basic with two monastically narrow beds on opposite sides of the room. We enjoyed our stay in Flam very much, much more than expected. Our guide book had not made it seem like much, "nothing more than a tourist depot," and perhaps that is accurate, but we enjoyed it much more than Aurland and some of the other towns on the fjords.
