I stayed here with a friend for one night in July, we booked through the tourist office in another town and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived, as a guidebook had said it was only average.
The pensao is a stone's throw from the monastery, the main attraction in Alcobaca, and about 10 minutes' walk from the bus station. It's also near several cafes and restaurants.
Our twin room was clean, neat and had everything we needed for a good night's sleep. The sheets and towels also had two intertwined hearts (after the pensao's name) embroidered onto them, which I thought was a sweet touch!
There was a TV that picked up some English channels, and the ensuite bathroom was modern.
Breakfast could have been bigger - hot drink & bread rolls. But the jam was home-made! Also, the girl who seemed to be in charge spoke excellent English, and the same people run the restaurant below the pensao, although we tried another one across the street.
