We had a wonderful time. Philip and Pat were so accomodating and very helpful. Lovely room, beautiful accommodation and a great breakfast. It's also a lovely part of the country. We'd love to come back

Swanson House is a converted coaching inn in the centre of Brough, so is well located for onward journeys to anywhere in England - of if the snow gates are likely to be closed on the A66! There are two parking spaces round the back, off Swan Avenue, one for each of the two guest rooms. We stayed on the... More

Booked both rooms for a family visit to a relative living locally and had a lovely stay at Swanson House. Philip and Pat are excellent hosts. Rooms were very spacious, modern and excellently maintained will loads of extras (robes, cafetiere, buscuits, cakes, bottled water). Breakfast is cooked to your individual order and the 3-course evening meal in their small restaurant... More

We found this hotel on google as we were working in the area, really nice place and excellent value for money too. The Staff were very friendly and rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast was lovely. Pitty we were only in the area for one evening. We will definately be back when we are next in the area!

Everywhere else was booked - so glad it was! The Swanson House is a little gem. We were warmly greeted by Phil and Pat who showed us to the room which was very spacious. We did not hesitate to try out the freshly baked banana and pine nut cake which Pat pointed out to us in the pantry. Absolutely delicious... More

I have stayed here twice, meeting up with an old friend for an evening of food and drink followed by a day of hill-walking. Phil is a friendly host, always happy to chat but willing to leave you alone if you want. Pat's cooking is excellent and her breakfasts ought to be legendary. Great value, excelent bedrooms fitted out to... More

As the torch passed through Brough, we stayed for coffee and cake at Swanson House. Both were absolutely yummy and the service just right, price about what you would expect. I don't know if they are normally open for afternoon tea but if this is the example for their food, you will not be disappointed.

We stayed at Swanson House after enjoying a day the sunshine with the family and what a perfect end to a lovely day. A warm welcome from Phil awaited us, and when he showed us to our beautiful spacious room we were more than impressed. We were travelling with our baby son and there was ample room for his cot.... We arrived very late, but the welcome was extremely warm nothing was too much trouble. The room was fantastic, clean and with lots of homely touches. The pantry was a nice surprise with lots of home made cakes to sample. Definitely worth a visit . We would definitely stay again. Good value for money. Thanks for a fantastic weekend

Stayed overnight following a day's fishing locally on River Eden. It was easy to find on the main street in Brough, just off the A66. Phil and Pat made me very welcome and at home from the minute they opened the door. Room was impeccably clean and spacious with every convenience (apart from possibly a desk and chair). Food was top... More
