Ripplewood is a great place to stay because it's in the perfect spot in Big Sur. The Pfieffer State Parks and beaches are close, as are many restaurants, a deli, a video store etc. Plus Ripplewood has a gas station and a little grocery store on the premises. We stayed both in the cabins up by the store and down... more

I booked thru their website email, they confirmed my email reservation but asked for credit card to be faxed or I had to call directly. Did neither but I found out later they still held my room for me. Great! I don't recommend this especially on a weekend, which can get crowded. Found Ripplewood easily enough after driving from San... more

We stayed here three nights and really enjoyed it. There are basically three areas of cabins. The first area is on the Big Sur River, with lots of big redwoods, and it's down the hill from the lodge office, which is right on the highway. That's where we stayed the first two nights (Cabin 7). Very nice and quiet, we... more

This was our second visit to Ripplewood cabin 4. Our first was 10 years ago and it's pretty much exactly the same only this time we had a baby with us. It's the perfect place to get away, no phone, no television, no computer. We just sat by the fire or out on the deck and spent some quiet time... more

We only stayed for one night in cabin 6 (http://www.ripplewoodresort.com/cabin6.htm) on a trip heading south down Highway 1, but we wish it had been for more. The cabin was down by the river, which we could see and hear flowing. It really is in a beautiful setting in amongst the tall redwoods which rustle peacefully in the breeze. The cabin... more

Have been travelling to California for years but have never stayed in Big Sur due to the fact that it is pricey. You can generally get a cheap room in Monterey. But, it was Christmas and we wanted to spend 1-2 nights in Big Sur. We did not call ahead but instead just dropped in and asked if they had... more

We stayed in cabin #1 which had two queen beds, one in the bedroom and the other in the living area. Both were comfortable and had nice linens. The bathroom was very dark and cramped (walk-through setup). The kitchen had minimal supplies which was fine for drinks, sandwiches, snacks, etc. but there was no coffeemaker, so bring your own or... more

I stayed in Cabin 7 with my boyfriend for one night in October. We loved the area and the cabin. I loved that the cabin was clean and comfy and couldn't get enough of the sound of the creek right outside. He loved the rustic setting, the beautiful trees and outdoor scenary. It was very quiet when we were there... more

Book this hotel well ahead. Be sure to go to the Hotel's web site and view the map with the cabin locations. If you can, get a cabin with a deck... looks over the tiny but beautiful river, which is bordered by huge evergreen trees. Stunning. Makes you wish you could paint! Cabins are cozy but comfortable enough. It feels... more

We stayed in Cabin #9 right next to the river. The first thing I noticed was how well kept the grounds and cabins were. The inside of our cabin was nearly spotless, the bed was clean and comfortable, and you can't beat the view of the trees and river from the deck outside. The kitchen had the basic utensils, gas... more
