We (two senior ladies) stayed here for 3 nights in mid March 07. It was recommended in the Lonely Planet Mexico, it was right in the Zona Luz (downtown tourist area), and it was cheap . . . we gave it a try.
We had room 25 on the second floor (third to us). We had two double beds, table/chair, dresser, tv w/remote (100 pesos, $9 deposit for the remote), a/c and ceiling fan, big shower with good water pressure (our best of the trip), and the tiniest sink you’ve ever seen . . . but we did have hot water in it! The Oriente was 360 ($32.73) w/air; 280 ($25.45) w/out.
The room was clean, the beds were good, but the a/c barely put out any air, much less cooled. We got the desk clerk to come up and push buttons/flip switches and he said it would be cool in 15 minutes . . . nope.
We left the a/c on and went out to explore. We returned at night and the room was not cool. We asked to move to another room but even though we saw/heard no one else, he said no a/c...
