We (family of four) stayed at this hostel for 3 nights when we were attending convocation in Canberra. The room is spacious and fine. However, our shower fixture was faulty. The Canberra YHA is a modern hostel with nice big rooms, good location and a pool! The rooms are very large with TVs and tea/coffee facilities. Swipe-card entry. The double beds have foam mattresses and get quite hot in summer. The reception area is small and gets crowded easily. Better than most hostels. I had a terrible stay here and would not recommend it to anyone. The biggest problem is it is just a huge hostel with a friendly but inadequate staff. The kitchen is disgusting, overflowing sinks, and dirty plates. Then, there are kids running amuck, playing on the elevators and acting as a general nuisance. Two buses full of the buggers... more
