Bananatown Motel is right on the Pacific Highway which is the road which connects Sydney and Brisbane (Grafton Street is a small entry road for a line of motels along the Pacfic Highway). We basically chose it because they were advertising a rate of $75 per night for a double room, we were super tired after a long trip up from Sydney and the name of the hotel seemed cool!
The hotel appears to be run by a husband and wife team who were always friendly and helpful. The rooms were adequate for a budget hotel, with everything you needed and everything very clean. There's only two things I can fault with the whole stay. As the Motel is right on the corner of the Pacific Highway and Albany Streets the noise from the passing semi traliers and Sydney to Brisbane trucks is very, very loud. I am a heavy sleeper and it even woke me up a couple of times! Also, we managed to loose our key during our stay.
