We stayed at the Sydney Boulevard hotel, which is directly opposite the Strand hotel. We ate in the Strand a couple of nights and really enjoyed our meals. There is plenty of choice and its a lot cheaper than most other places to eat in Sydney and the food is excellent. Also the alcohol is a lot cheaper than most... More

We stayed in the Boulevard Hotel opposite the Strand. We popped in for a beer one afternoon and saw how fantastic the food looked so we went back to eat that evening. An old style Aussie pub with a multitude of customers, great for people watchers. Sydney is a very expensive city and we ate here for 10 dollars each!... More

My rating reflects that this is a good pub, but this is NOT a backpackers, it is 'rooms above a pub'. A real backpackers has an equipped kitchen that you don't have to find staff and pay extra money/a deposit for and has an indoor communal area open outside of pub hours. We did have an old fridge in our... More

My Partner and I use to stay here in 2007 - 2008. We since moved to Perth and on a recent trip back to Sydney we thought it would be nice for old time's sake to stay in the "double onsuit".... The hostle has gone way down hill (we found out afterwards that it has been taken over by new... More

Haven't stayed here - however can speak for the Strand as a casual relaxed watering hole for locals and tourists alike. Bar staff are exceptionally friendly and patrons (while a mixed bag) are generally very friendly. Food is very affordable - I recall a $10 lunch deal that included a beer. By way of pub food it's quite good (steak... More

First the cons: my roommates inner bedcover was gross. Hopefully just an exception?! Pros: the other two in our room were clean and so was the rest of it. For a hostel very clean toilets and showers. The location is really good. Short way to kings cross and a bit longer to CBD. Friendly staffs. And make sure to stay... More

We had to check in through the pub, which after a long walk to the hostel isn't what you want. The rooms were quite big, but the balcony door didn't lock so anyone could have walked along the roof and into the room. The floors were filthy and our bed sheets hadn't been changed. The pillows stank of greasy hair... More

I stayed in this hotel over new years and had a pretty good time! I really like the location. It's on William St - the main road between the CBD (city) and Kings Cross (the main backpacker area). The hotel is based over a pub, and to check in you need to go to the bar area. I stayed in... More

Had a good time. In fairness it was the crowd that made it but got good roof top to drink on. If you want luxury your barking up the wrong tree. If you wanna good time in a great location, this is the one.
